I love classical music. I have a whole collection of CDs from thrift stores.
CD's? Darlin', In the 1950's all I had was a Jr High record player & 33 RPM albums. We had to go to actual mom-&-pop owned "record shops" to buy albums. In 1959 I started adding 45 rpm singles records w/ a separate middle insert so I could play the singles on my player. I was so glad when I finally found a regular radio station that played classical music only! I guess all kids are drawn to music except today's "music" can hardly pass as decent for kids to hear?

My mom grew up in the Thomas Edison/RCA days of hand-crank phonographs Joplin, Prohibition, & the Charleston! But like me she was a nerd & didn't go for her era's music.

That swelling is so weird ~ poor chickens have so many issues for such sweet birds! Usually insect bites want flesh (not fur or feathers like lice/mites) so insects target the face, comb, wattles on chickens w/the softer face skin preferred to bite. If the insect has venomous bites like little spiders do then is it possible that caused swelling in the bite area? The clear eyes just don't scream respiratory to me. I was wondering to myself if my vet would have drained the swelling or if he would've just used a topical or internal medication of some kind? Just thinking out loud...
Yes generally I would lance an abscess, then use an antibacterial to irrigate it. But I feel it is an upper respiratory infection, tonight her respiration seemed heavy after I handled her.

The swelling is changing shape so I am not sure if it’s spreading out or going down - at any rate I have her on the sulpha-trim and Tylenol twice a day.

I may go to Tylenol only at night starting tomorrow.

My CeeCee can fly up to twelve feet, but she likes to show off. I’d rather she didn’t do that, but who’s going to stop her? :idunno
Mrs Little Chicken (LC) flew across the yard and half way up the paddock one day!!! She is built for flying.

Surprisingly though she rarely flies up high in the barn. Mr LC on the other hand frequently flies up into the ceiling beams. He will roost overnight there at times.

Another classical fan here! :frow

I also like stuff I can sing along with, so lots of soft rock and classic rock. Carpenters, anyone?

But I have been known to "sing" classical stuff. A really fun one: The third movement of Tchaikovsky's 4th Symphony.
Carpenters yes 😊

The chooks like when I sing to them. Of course most of you know I like to make up words to songs and sing to them 😊

I buy jeans 👖 from thrift stores. I don’t worry about the size. If they fit it’s great. If they don’t fit I give them to the homeless community.
Same here. We go to the Union Rescue Mission Boutique & Thrift Store opened just 5 blocks from us. Manufacturers donate their new or overstock items to URM so nearly everything there is new at outrageous low prices. We like Goodwill too cuz their employees are handicap or volunteers & they get paid by Goodwill for their repair of donated resale used items. Salvation Army won't accept items like furniture or appliances that need mending or repairing but Goodwill mostly does if it's repairable.

Yup! Run has a roof! ☺️ 10ft in the back and 7ft in the front so snow and rain slide off
Excellent!

Our first little coop in 2011 for two little Silkies had chicken wire walls on the run. We learned things the hard way at first. The first hard Santa Ana Winds storm we were lucky we had a tarp in the garage to wrap around the coop run to keep out dust & debris. We went thru a lot of tarps to use as wind/rain shields.

For 4 years we kept adding/modifying/improving the coop until finally when we remodeled the yard it was planned w/ chicken friendly builds & a brand new sturdier coop. It was still another 7 years of landscaping/adding/redoing the patios & yard for the chickens ~ & we did it all for only 5 hens. Crazy to build a whole backyard for only 5 hens. We're zoned for 5 but currently have 6 birds ~ but Silkies only count as 1/2 a bird, right?
