Nope! Honestly I really just liked the sound of the name. Way back before Christians, a tomte or nisse (tomte is used mainly in Sweden while nisse is more Norwegian) was simply a spirit of the earth, or a house/homestead spirit. They were said to watch over the land and livestock, but would play tricks if they weren't respected and honored

One example is, if you spill something on the floor and don't call out to the tomte to warn him, he might slip in the puddle, get angry, and tie all of your cattles' tails together 🤣

But if you treat the tomte well, he'll help you care for your home and livestock!
I think I remember this from a Tomie de Paola book.

Sorry to disappoint. I am but a humble chicken servant who got carried away when designing her chicken coop.

I'd actually love to know more about what you did to design that coop. I'm eventually going to be in a high racoon/idiot neighbor's dog area and I want the chooks to be safe. That's a lot smaller than I imagined it, yet it looks so cozy, I almost want to live in there.

Seconded!

Ummm. I think you need to post SHRA tax.
You even gave a ❤️ response to my post about this.
Which is what BGMath was responding to that caused Bob to ask about the joke.
My head is going round in circles!

Yes generally I would lance an abscess, then use an antibacterial to irrigate it. But I feel it is an upper respiratory infection, tonight her respiration seemed heavy after I handled her.

The swelling is changing shape so I am not sure if it’s spreading out or going down - at any rate I have her on the sulpha-trim and Tylenol twice a day.

I may go to Tylenol only at night starting tomorrow.
Wish I could be on more regularly. Finally drilled back to these pictures, & been following some. Looking at the pictures, other than the swelling and your reports of how her breathing sounds, it is somewhat confounding, isn’t it?

Because she doesn’t look typical at this point for a respiratory infection - though it may very well be. Were her nares or eyes ever wet with discharge? The second thing about this is that Coryza is infectious, or maybe there’s a variety that isn’t? If it is “Infectious Coryza”, then why has it not quickly spread to others in the gang there? These must be questions you ponder too. I am not criticizing, just putting in my two cents to try to help.

I recall watching some video on removing pus from a certain eye / sinus infection that even when resolved leaves the lump of pus blocking normal drainage. I will look for it again as I don’t remember what infection was the cause.

Forget tomorrow. I took my headlamp out and got some pictures. Her voice is changing and she sounds like a goose so she is young. What do you all think, Brahma or Cochin? She has to be between 4 to 5 months as their is no sound of a chick peep so she is not a large fowl.
Also, excuse the coop, clean out day is tomorrow.

She's a pretty little thing.
Thank goodness you have her, anything could have happened to her out on her own
