Can't get away from chemicals of one kind or another. Chem trails ~ who knows what's falling from them on us here. Around 1980's a small plane crashed into a Cerritos neighborhood & destroyed 5 homes w/ensuing fire. Can't imagine the chemical fumes from that incident. Then there's food chems too.

Rant tx ~ Ye ole' swimming hole on my cousin's Kerman farm. They had chickens too but it was always too sizzlin' hot to visit the chicken yard daytime so I never got pics of their birds. The irrigation pond was a welcome relief from the sweltering valley sun.

Oh how fun!!! There's a pond down the road that I sometimes swim in during the summer (actually it's at a private development off my road where you're only supposed to be there if you're a resident or guest, but shhhh).

I love it over there. I've seen some cool birds at the pond, green herons, swallows, cuckoos, flycatchers, and more. I haven't walked back there in winter yet. I'll do that this winter!

Speaking of winter, we got our first snow overnight!

It's not much (there was a bit more early this morning) but I'm still excited 😆

Winters here are beautiful!

They're not sure what to think about the snow, but they want out of the run! Sorry girls, too many hawks around!

My sister at Fort Knox is getting snow this morning. Was in the 30s here in central TX today but is warming quickly thankfully. It's going to be a beautiful day to plant a 🌳.

And more feathers in the Hen House this morning, Tippy has feathers just flying off her (pun intended haha), not sure who the new feathers are from.

At least it hasn’t been too cold here.
We are still feeding feather fixer but most of our birds that was molting are looking much better. The co op has what they call a game rooster feed. I checked the ingredients and it includes the minerals for good feathers and has low calcium for the boys. I bought a bag and will begin to mix it in with the feather fixer. If the gang likes it we'll feed that till late February.
