Oh, definitely a major drawback. Painful for us to pay for DNA-sexed Silkies but there's no re-homing roos in the city.

The only time we ever had true baby chicks were the auto-sexed Dominique chicks where we could pick out the female babies from the feed store bin.

I can DNA gender test as soon as they hatch (I did that with Bert and Betty), I make sure I know which egg is from which chick.

Dry out the egg, making sure the inner membrane is with the egg. And then send it to the lab.

Couple days later I know the gender

But I need to be there and get the egg and chick matched up. Easy with only 2 chicks!

Don't get me started on insurance delays . My right humerus has been broken 7 months now & needs surgery but is anything being done in spite of my calls? Ortho Dr says surgery is approved so why is nothing progressing? Doesn't a 7-month broken arm constitute an emergency?!

Nope he is not coming in the house for 2 reasons 1) he will be freaked out away from his ladies, 2) he is a chicken who should stay in the barn.

He is fine I checked on him.

Fixed a couple of coop doors this week. At least I accomplished something on my time off. I didn't realize that diabetes was such an ass kicker until it kicked mine. I'm grateful to have found a good dr that is close. My glucose is around low 100s so I feel good n ready for my next project at work, which starts on Sunday.

Hopefully it’s close by, make sure you eat properly.

I am going to halve my Summer House in two, keep Mr P and his older ladies on the one side and the other silly ladies who need to be kept away from the big boys and from picking Mr P, they can go on the other side.

Who knew chickens could be such troublemakers!
