Blessed Thanksgiving everybody ❤️🦃
If there's a roo in the bunch, he should be named Squanto (Native American who got their aid to the Pilgrims) if going with a Thanksgiving theme. @RebeccaBoyd go with whatever names fit the chicks as you usually do.

Oi, every year at this time her comb always shrivels to a crisp so now it looks like an apple chip... Not sure why. Perhaps dehydration but she is drinking water.
If she has stopped laying eggs for the winter then it’s likely hormonal. My old hens’ combs are not like a youngsters bright red one.

So how is you day going?

I waited until just a few minutes ago. I wanted it to be dark and later in the evening so the neighborhood would be quiet. I went and left the light off and stood by the hay. I heard it immediately. The soft clucks a momma makes when she is talking to those babies. Then I really heard it over her clucking, a soft peep of a chick. I may have secretly been hoping her eggs were infertile, all hopes of that are dashed. I then laid down, on the ground and shone my light on her. She is facing me still clucking. She partially lifted herself up to I think move the eggs. I never saw the eggs and never saw a chick poke out in front of her. I know they are at least internally pipped, possibly externally pipped. I'm going to say by in the morning she will have at least 1 chick. She has the possibility for at least 2 as once I did hear for just the briefest of a second multiple cheeps.

Well done Poppet, you have outdone me. Momma Hen is smiling down on you and very proud.
Awwww - so excited to see the Thanksgiving chicks.
Good for you Poppet!

SHE DID IT, SHE DID IT! Lady Sybil laid the first egg! I'm SO HAPPY!!! :ya Look how pretty it is!!!

Happiest of thanksgivings to all who celebrate the holiday.
I asked my chooks what they would like for Christmas and they said they would like to be able to masticate. I sadly told them that I can’t give them teeth :D
Maybe someone with a 3D printer can make them some tiny dentures that fit their beaks 🤣

Well everyone. I'm off to Connecticut. I'm currently on the roads and guess what? Pony, you'll want to see this. SNOW! Well, as of now, we are in Connecticut but here are photos from earlier. Snow in the upper part of PA and it dwindled down as we headed to NY. I will say it has been raining all day. The rain followed us from PA to here.
