Here we on a rare occassion will get the "lake effect" snow. Lake Michigan is about 40 miles from here. That's when we'll get dumped on. We still get most from you I believe though.

Sunny at the moment, and -3C horses sunning themselves,

and the chooks too in the stalls sitting in the sunlight, not sure if any warmth for them in the sunlight inside…

I kept Sue, and Cash in with Mr P today - those two are moulting badly and along with the Roos over breeding them they are a bit bare; also Penelope, Blanche and Sophia, they are too old to be harassed by the boys.

I see they are all wanting to get under the sweeter heater. Guess I need to save up and get another one.

Anywhooo more snow on the way, squall warning out for my area for 20 a 30cm (8 - 12 inches). Ugh….

Next week above freezing and rain

Winter has Arrived

I woke up to this.

The chickens have not left their coops.

I have not yet gotten the shower curtains up so the wind is whipping through the run and under the coop. I'm guessing that Hattie might be alone all day. I need to get her heat panel moved down so she can stay warm.

I am failing as a chicken servant.

Bernie continues to struggle - I don’t know if it is molt or something more serious. But I have discovered that she transforms into a different hen when turkey scraps are offered.
To describe it as a favorite food is a significant under statement.
One minute she looks like she is not far from death. Then suddenly she is a raging carnivore tearing into her cousin’s carcass like a mad thing!

I’m struggling with this picture in my mind!

Yep it’s arrived for sure! I am still hopeful for a winter like last year.

And I am sure your ladies will be fine They are more tough than we are!
