It's around 40F outside. I left the chooks in their coop.
Our hens are huddled in the back patio away from the 55mph Santa Ana Wind gusts!

Front & back yards are full of huge dried up Maple leaves blown in from the roadside freeway trees. Just hope the limbs & boughs dont blow into our yards. One year a flying 5-ft freeway tree bough almost broke my bedroom window!

I must give my Coco some credit, she doesn’t seem to mind staying in the house. Even when I leave her alone for a few hours she is content just sitting by herself.
Thing is, she will only eat when I am there with her. I do leave the TV on so she has something to watch and bide her time
That's great, TV or radio. We also set up a mirror for in-house patients. They like their reflection.

I have a book of mid 19th Century farm building designs. Many of them have diagrams showing how to keep chicken and other livestock housing warm.
I will dig it up and share some pages. Some are quite ingenious and I wish I had found the book before building the Chicken Palace.
I had an antique book like that downloaded on my Nook but the Nook broke. That's why I like hardcover books for reference. How did we ever survive before computers?
