Yes, there is great exchange of fire fighting between the 2 countries cuz if one suffers so does the other. It pays to be a good neighbor.

Here are some water carrying planes & helicopters that fly overhead when fighting the mtn fires behind us ~ they are different colors & shapes every year. Aircraft doesn't seem to bother our hens but they will suspiciously eye a floating mylar balloon 🎈

The yellow one is the Quebec plane nicknamed a super scooper 😊

It can scoop up both fresh and salt water.

The chopper can only take in fresh water.

Saw this on the News this morning.

This is true.

This time last year if you had asked me if I would have something like George running around I would have laughed at you. Then told you that you had lost your mind and it would never happen.

George was meant to be. He survived a cross country trip as a egg. Getting temporarily stuck for 2 or 3 days at a distribution center. He then survived my mail carrier who once again did not call to have me pick up eggs and instead took them on his route along bumpy back country roads riddled with potholes. All the eggs did not safely make it, 2 broke along the way and I had to carefully clean the eggs without taking off the protective coating before I set them. His egg was not even the intended goal for setting, he was just a filler for the carton.

My little man was the first to hatch and was a strong chick. My brother Michael and Rosie knew immediately he was a boy, I was in denial and no he was a pullet. A pullet that almost immediately became the favorite and was so in your face friendly I should have known he was a boy. He put the silkie chicks to shame with just how easy he was to fall for and be friendly. 2 weeks in if it really even took that long boy or girl he was for sure staying.

While still leaning pullet I tragically lost Branch my heart rooster. George who at the time was called Adele stepped up and comforted me sealing our bond. Then his hairdo took off and oops, Adele is a boy, why hello George.

George is brave, full of himself and a little clown. He is the only rooster I have had who took it upon himself to "save me" from the horses when he latched onto Russ's tail. I will never forget the sight of him being flung over his back when Russ flicked his tail.

In short, nope never planned on a little white Polish look-a-like rooster running around. Fate if you will had other ideas.
He’s a character for sure 😊

His mama has become very friendly also and follows me around, she knows I will pick her up and put her in her nest box for the night, and yes she is one of the vicious brats picking at Mr P.

She is also a character - those Polish are sure clowns 🥰

Their pen is huge. It's most of the neighbor's property, just fenced off. It's way bigger than their old pen, so I don't think they would be bored. They have a lot of enrichment (woods, lots of space to run around) and food and water within easy reach. Beauty is also very picky. She won't eat carrots, crab apples, sweet apples, and certain types of food.
Ah! She’s a princess I see 🤭

I have one of those… right Truly?

Not that I was looking but it was 11 yrs before my 1st award & 12 yrs for the 2nd & they came at a time I never expected! & Don't you ever DARE stop joking ~ wit is a natural talent like being an artist, a chef, or a poet, etc. Some talents are learned while others are just natural from within 😉.
I think they are more organized with the rewards the past couple years.

The angry emoji was for the loonie flying the drone. Some loonies are so twisted beyond our imagination that they actually find satisfaction in creating havoc
Sick-o's!!!

You're needing to create so many pens for different groups, do you have the space for 47 stir-crazy birds? I know when it's pouring rain/cold here we can't keep just 6 hens from going bonkers!
I would have just kept Georgie with Mr P and his ladies but they were just too cold today, they can hang out under the heater and dig around happily. Once I put them in there they were much happier, even Georgie hung out under the heater.

If it were summer everyone would be running together.

Oh well - soon enough it will be better weather- only 123 days till our May 2 4 weekend (19 May this year), our unofficial start to ‘good’ weather.

The run is wire but I could staple on to the wood roof supports! But I doubt staples would hold up to heavy sustained winds and the serious gusts we get here.
You could use screws and fender washers. You could also use laths over the edges with the screws & fender washers if you are afraid of shredding or pulling out with just the screws & fender washers (like @BY Bob has shown how he does with plastic to winterize his run.)

I brought Coco outside for some sunshine. I looked all around for Mr Wyandottey and didn’t see him until I put Coco on the ground. He came out of nowhere and attacked Coco with his strength. I pulled him off of her and separated him from the other birds. What a tough guy he is.
Why would a roo attack a hen? I thought roos liked to accumulate hens for a harem?

Roos & alpha hens are strange. We always make sure our Dana gets 1st choice on treats. & she'll get agitated if DH picks up another hen before her. Alphas have to be given 1st notice on all occasions & then the alpha decides when to step back to allow the lesser birds through. Silly little things like that about alpha roos also applies to alpha hens when there is no flock roo. Can't pet them on the head or back, has to be on the chest, So many little chickeny things to know.
