I'm upset that Alaska has better weather than us.

The sun isn't doing any wonders in keeping me warm.
I'm in a slight rush this morning, so I'm afraid I won't have the time to see Grandma and the others.

I was very anxious yesterday when I went out to the coop. I waited longer than usual, thinking the ladies wouldn't be interested in coming outside. I had a pan of snow for them, and was planning to leave them in the coop.

They had other plans!

I was thinking of giving mine a bowl of snow. They do like eating snow. I am not sure about letting them out of the hen house just yet. They have plenty of space and it has been quite windy (wind supposed to drop today but I am wary).

I gave them a pan of snow yesterday, and they noshed on it. I haven't done that yet; I will when I check on them in a couple of hours. I told them that yesterday was on repeat for today. Only it's going to be a bit colder. The temp is still dropping; it's down to 3 right now. I think we'll see zero...

They have several realistic chicken patterns! Pigeons too!

The more I look, the more I think that's a project for next Christmas for both kids....and an egg basket for the older one a wise idea....as the oldest pullets should be getting close to first eggs...

Alaska is HUGE. Weatherwise, picking a location along the coast is going to have more temperate weather than far inland will.

Every time I think about Alaska, I think about when my little brother had to do a report on Alaska in 3rd grade. He had to get a big poster board and decorate it with pictures and facts. One of the bullet points was the size of the state. So he printed out a picture of Alaska next to Texas (Alaska completely dwarfs Texas), and he didn't know what to write about it. I suggested "You think Texas is big?!?!? Well feast your eyes on ALASKA!!!" He did it. He loved it He got a good grade on that project!

The sun is out and it just warmed up to 5°F (-15°C).
My girls want out but I am worried about Calypso who still doesn’t have all her feathers.
They are all hanging around by the door. I haven’t been out there yet.

I'm still looking at patterns. They have a couple of cockerels in the group and I'm NOT finding much for roosters, especially the tail feathers. Definitely want to do justice to the birds.
