It's Miss Sydney!

I was making my lunch and I saw her pacing around Hattie House trying to find a way in. The door was closed because of the awful weather over the weekend. Well I have seen that passing before. Out the door I went. As soon as I opened the door she was up and in. I knew that meant she was either close or ready to go.

Look how much bigger her eggs are than Aster's.

Pretty ~ To be fair, Aster is still younger & eggs will be smaller ❤️

Sydney lays the same size and shape eggs as my Xzit does. IMG_4500.jpeg

Everyone, we are safe. The water was the worst we have ever saw here since we moved here in 2001. We did not have to run. We did move the horses onto the hill for about 2 hours. We lost power about 7 am yesterday morning and it just came back on. I am making my first pot of coffee and going to fix dinner real quick and then download some pictures for a real update later.

So glad to hear you are OK. I saw pictures on the news and it looks awful.

TERROR AND PANIC

That is the only way I can describe how I felt this morning.

Petunia is dead. She died in the Hen House on the roost ledge with the others in the wee hrs of this morning. Well before I got out there at 4:30am.

Why?! That’s what terrifies me and makes me panic. Was she not feeling well? Yes - she had been I’ll for about a week, had yellow poops, Sunday I started her on amoxicillin. Yet she died. Why? Did she have health issues? Yes - she was plagued with soft eggs last summer, and then an impacted crop, but once she moulted she blossomed. But she became ill again. And now has passed away rather suddenly.

Now I play the watching game with the rest of the flock, see if anyone else becomes ill. Meanwhile I think I will worm and treat for coccidia, just to cover all bases.

And then there is this in the News:

AI has now been detected here in Ontario, the Rouge is not far from me…
