It’s true! I think the one being considered looks perfect. I’ve wished ours was raised. This pic is from 2021, but it looks the same. Tarps on the sides are only up in winter. There us more ventilation than appears from here. There are three “floors,” but the highest one above the main coop is just used for storage and not accessible to the birds. I can stand up in the main coop. I have to bend over a little in the second level, which is where we walled in the deck of the play structure. View attachment 4052639
Great Coop!!! :love

I'm thinking about breeds I'd love to have but likely won't get...

Swedish Flowers
Crested Cream Legbars
Jubilee Orp roo 🥺

We'll probably end up with more Wyandottes (I love Wyandottes), but I'll also look for Chanteclers.
I prefer:
Sparkling sunbursts
Spinning ground bloom flowers
And piccolo Pete’s
And sparklers 🧨
But I don’t like those fireworks that explode in the air. :old

I think we can make it work for 10. I'll have to go out and measure it when it isn't so dang frigid outside. And take more detail pictures so I can get some ideas from everybody here ;)
Most excellent to plan ahead. No coop/run is ever 100% perfect so concentrate on your most important issue regarding a build. After 5 yrs of struggling w/our 1st coop/run we decided our main issue was keeping the new coop/run shaded from burning summer heat & keep it dry from rainy storm leaks plus we didn't like standing in rain to collect eggs from the nestboxes.

Therefore in our situation we had a roofed patio built over our new bigger coop/run. Now we walk out the sliding kitchen door & don't get soaking wet to collect eggs. Plus Silkies are a broody breed & we can check the nestboxes at eye level. Other issues we don't like but at least our main issues have been solved in the new coop/run.

Some new features we found nice is that the coop came w/ a sliding solid tray floor & a sliding wire floor (wire was good for more summer ventilation in our brutal heatwaves.) We liked the windows to peek at the birds w/o disturbing them ~ don't need to open the cleanout door to check on them. Since we had a hen damage her toes scratching in splintered wooden nestboxes this coop came w/ plastic nestboxes so no more damaged toes!
