I was just thinking before giving them a treat call their name then shake the treat & maybe they will associate your voice w/ "treat" and then come running when they hear you call. Our 6 girls are so spoiled that whenever we come outside or come home in the car they already start running to us & calling to us. Treats/food has been our best training tool.

About the only time mine don't come running when we call is if it's mid-day & they are snoozing hidden somewhere digesting their morning crop or if they're being broody. I have one girl that comes running when I call even if she's snoozing. DH trains each girl in the group by saying her name each time he gives only her a treat & in time each one learns their name. It doesn't happen overnight but consistent training & treats like w/ any pet, pays off. And some learn faster than others. Just depends on how much time you want to spend training or how pesty you want them to be.

Note: If you can't tell your 3 girls apart, paint one girl's single toe blue & another girl's purple w/ fingernail polish (no red or green to get pecked at) & leave one girl w/plain toenails & that way you can use that method for identification & name training. Just thoughts I'm throwing out there...

DH makes a special plates of mixed veggies, vitamins, can organic corn, maybe w/ Greek Yogurt or meat at around 7 or 8 a.m. every morning. They start milling around the door automatically waiting for that morning supplement & if he's late they start squawking for it or tapping on the glass door. Who trains who⁉️

I was in the barn last summer doing chores when all of a sudden there was thos uproar! The chooks were screaming and flapping - I went running to see what was going on fully expecting them to be running into the barn….

But they were running away from the barn! What?!

Then I saw it - this great huge hulking figure lurking by the house….. that’s what had the chooks in such an uproar, it was my Brother in Law, and he was coming bearing treats 😆

Gave me more grey hairs….

Laverne tore off her dressing, so I had to scrub up her injury, and put on a new dressing.

I should have know she would wreck it digging through the manure!

But she was having a blast at least 😊 and now she has a new dressing that should be good for a few days.

So difficult waiting for the chicks to come! Chicken math almost got me again, I found out that they had Chocolate Laced Gold Orpingtons, and I would've added one to the order, but they're out. They saved me from myself!:lau Oh well, there's always later this year. :D 29 more days to go till Chocolate Orpington pictures y'all!
I am looking forward to seeing them!

Today was a good day for the chooks, they were out on Mount Poopmore and I dragged Georgie girl and her chicks out also

I do much want to hang out with my rooster, but he’s being stubborn today. He’ll crow at my house window, but run away when I go out there. My treats must not be good enough for him :idunno

Looks like a growth on her conjunctiva. Could possibly be on the inner eyelid. It’s likely in a good location as possible to have so it doesn’t irritate the eyeball too much.

Just keep an eye on it. Could just be an infection or inflammation.
If it is an infection, try amoxicillin.
