How did that happen ?This is a new one for me...View attachment 4062904
Back story is,; my oldest child was that age when she was introduced to chickens. She would say Bok, Bok chicken when she saw oneBox box chicken!![]()
She walked up the steps...How did that happen ?
I totally get it. I wouldn't be able to do it myself either. They are such precious souls. And those are some beautiful girls. That is so sad& must be sad for your DH too to be the one to do it.
Neither my DH or me can do this selfless act ourselves & have had to take 3 hens to our vet to euthanize birds we could not save. Other birds that we lost were from old age or heatstroke, or avian leukosis (internal cancer virus in chicks). It's particularly sad to lose a bird you're trying to save.
Some sweeties we miss....

I'm in love!!!For Pony Sunday I present you with a not-pony. It is a calf. One of the neighbor's Red Angus cows is his mom, and the neighbor named him Brisket. I think it suits him

This is Chocolate
Oh my!!! Still my heart!!!
I'm going to remember this for the next time I brood chicks. Cleaning the top of the brooder plate was... eww.One idea that worked well for me is get a cardboard tray (like ones that come with cat food cans) and cut slits where the top end of the legs of your brooder plate are. Push the tray down on top of the brooder plate and put some bedding in it.
That will expand the space of the sleeping shelf and also keep the poop off your brooder plate.
Wow, cheeky - I wonder why so bold? This is a new one for me...View attachment 4062904

I'm in love!!!I've never had one of my own, but I think I love cows more than any other animals. When I was a child, I used to climb into the apple tree and hand apples down to my uncles cows. One time he let me feed a calf with a bottle. Now that was a hoot!!
They are all adorable!!!
Oh my!!! Still my heart!!!![]()
