What is Nellie again?

I have a pullet that looks like her: Coloring of a brown leghorn/welsummer, body build of a leghorn, large white earlobes, large single comb (not floppy), and I think she is laying white eggs, but haven't caught her yet and I have 14 just coming into lay...so hers could be white or pale brown. That group was a special 'colorful egg layers' (the colorful was clearly stated it would be the flock that is colorful, no guarantees of what the eggs would look like)

I'm thinking she is a leggy, but not sure. I think I got 3 different leghorns in that group - her, a white one, and an exchequer. (My husband calls the one I think is exchequer 'Indian Chicken', he thinks she looks like the paint ponies in all the old Indian movies!😆). I think one is also a Speckled Sussex ( i don't think they are heavy enough for Jubilee Orpingtons - but I really have to spend some time looking up the differences) And I now have 4 Wyandottes (I think!) 3 silver laced and one gold laced!! A few are still a mystery (I thought 2 might be white rocks, but I don't think so anymore - they don't have the 'rock' build. I was weak :oops:last August when I was recuperating from surgery, and there was a sale on them...they hatched the Tuesday after labor day...

I'm not sure what you can do for him. I would post this in the emergencies thread. However, I will say that when I have heard someone sneeze, usually during the rainy season, I add a few drops of VetRX to their drinking water and that seems to clear it up. It doesn't hurt the other chickens at all. But, you can also dab a drop or two under his wings and he'll get it when he preens. Here's what Meyer Hatchery says about it: https://blog.meyerhatchery.com/2021/06/the-many-uses-of-vet-rx/
Any kind of peppermint or eucalyptus can ease breathing, definitely placing that under the wings will put it next to their face when roosting ♥️

We feed Kalmbach 20% flock maker. Treats like table scraps, veggies, fruits, oats, and dried bsfl only occasionally. The eggs we ate were all from the past 2 or 3 days so I doubt they were bad, but we'll start doing the float test before we use them.

I thought at first it was because of the milk grandma used in the scrambled eggs (I'm lactose intolerant and she never thinks to use my lactose free milk 😅), but dad pointed out that I also had the same reaction when we had plain fried eggs.

It's so weird! These eggs are so delicious but my stomach HATES them!
Start by looking at the ingredients in the Kalmbach feed versus what you were using before.

I have a colleague that can't eat store bought eggs because she is super sensitive to soy. Surprisingly, she can eat mine. I make my own all-flock because I can't get organic all-flock locally. I. mix a soy free layer with an grower - the grower, I can't get soy free...:idunno:idunno:idunno:idunno

Are there any known food sensitivities? Start looking at the ingredients from that standpoint first.

:flHope you can get to the bottom if it soon so you can enjoy your girls' eggs!:fl

Clyde

His wheezing is a bit better I feel. I am heading to do chores now and will check on him.

I have been watching the rest like a hawk, so far no one else wheezing. Poor Clyde he is quite hoarse though when he is crowing. I am sure he has a sore throat he was very upset when I gave him aspirin this morning and tonight. Thankfully the sulpha-trim is a liquid.

The chooks have been good at staying out of the rain today, except for that knuckle headed rooster, he’s wet all over. :barnie
Lock him in the run/coop with his flock.

My gang think rain is evil, they refuse to stay out in it. Well except the silly silkies they are sometimes just dumb as stumps!

I use scissors, but then my gang is used to being handled and I am used to handling them.

For the wee silkies topknots I trim with scissors but pluck the feathers near their eyes with my fingers. The Baby dumplings sure didn’t appreciate my doing that this past weekend. But I am sure they like seeing a bit better. Still need to trim their topknots.

But I really want to get photos of them while they are looking all cute and fuzzy.
I love Silkie pics❣️ Especially the juveniles which I think are at their cutest with facial/crest fuzziness ~ before they discover how to trim each other's eyebrows. We have used rounded end scissors before to trim Silkie faces till we saw them stick their heads into another Silkie's beak to trim each other. Boy, that saves us a lot of stress & time when they do their own trims! Violet taught them well...
