Great interview @TOMTEGood morning! I've been so excited to share this but I wanted to wait until it was posted.
I was selected for a member interview!!
I was so surprised because I haven't been here that long![]()
Not so. ONLY if the HEN is barred and roo isn't will the auto-sexing occur. If the roo is pure bred barred and the hen isnt barred, ALL the chicks will be barred. The males are usually lighter in color or have larger white head spots than the females
Just about any crossbreed bird w/a barred/cuckoo cross will be auto-sexed.
Cackle Hatchery list of auto-sexing breeds with chick color descriptions:

Auto-sexing will carry through the generations when the breed is kept together. Sex-link will NOT breed true when the offspring are bred together.Very interesting. I wondered if auto-sexing and sex-link were the same thing. Now I know they're not!
I am confused. I think this says something different. Not so. ONLY if the HEN is barred and roo isn't will the auto-sexing occur. If the roo is pure bred barred and the hen isnt barred, ALL the chicks will be barred.
