As long as it’s not raining they do very well. Rain is the enemy to horses and cattle. That is so sweet...& born in snow weather! How do they stay warm enough? Must be a hardy breed![]()

Deer, elk, moose etc are usually born in April up here, and still plenty of snow, the big problem is with rain. Snow isn’t so bad, cold is ok, dry is best.I was just surprised that it looks so cold for calving. I just assumed mammals like deer, elk, bovine, equine, feline, etc, birthed in warmer parts of spring & not winter. Those fur coats they wear must be protecting.
Awwwww I love their namesIt's fun to see them grow into their names. They grow so f-a-s-t !!!
We gave Japanese names to our Silkies except two ~ one reminded me of a Vogue doll & another one is a combo name after my sis & neice.

We love our crow murders here ~ they keep the hawks away yet never bother our chickens. The only time we get a hawk around the neighborhood are the new juveniles who are still too stupid to know the murders will beat the cr*p out of them!Pony Sunday
A few minutes after this video a hawk made an appearance. Looks like a Red Tail, hopefully not taking up residence here.
The crows were very vocal, along with me out there jumping around waving my armshope my neighbours don’t see me doing that!
The blue jays and crows here like to swoop the chooks and tease them - they have a sense of humourWe love our crow murders here ~ they keep the hawks away yet never bother our chickens. Female chicks grow their first tailfeathers faster than males. Might be an old wives tale or only linked to a few breeds, it's just for funWhat is tail sexing? I am not familiar with it.
These aren’t scrawny town pigeons. These are living high on the hog pigeons! I will try and get some more pictures. There is a tree very close to the house here and sometimes they sit on the branch and it bends right down to the window ledge and they look in to see what the boom and are up to!We do have pigeons around here and in old barns especially but I don’t feed them and they can’t get into my loft.
They are very smart and highly adaptable. I like them.
Wow. Windy!Pony Sunday
