Also my phone updated overnight and my alarm to see the blood moon didn't go off! I'm so upset I missed it 😫
Oh no! I set my alarm for 2am and bolted out of bed having no idea why.
Eventually my mind cleared and I remembered why I was out of bed and went outside. I have to say it was gorgeous. Perfectly clear sky, I saw the eclipse and it did indeed turn red (well orange really). I was out for about an hour and then realized I had lost feeling in my fingers and toes so came back to bed to thaw out.
A few eclipse photos (I clearly have no idea how to photograph the moon, but atmospherically they capture the moment quite well).

Happy Pi-day Friday!
Mr. Marble has a houseguest. I am borrowing a Buff Orpington hen from a family friend to cheer him up.

When I first introduced them. He didn't want to get out of bed this morning.

Just about 10 minutes ago. They are walking together and he's shown her the food and water bowls. She is supposedly laying so we might have a few fresh eggs.

I must think of a good gift for the friend for letting me borrow a hen! Maybe a crochet buff orpington?
Buff Orpingtons always seem to cheer me up!

Good morning everyone.

I admit I am a bit behind. It is very hard to keep up now that I am working. I have today off so my chickens are calling my name this morning. I was too tired last night to go out and gather eggs. Rosie had already put everyone up so I went straight to bed. Judging by the noise the ladies have already been hard at work. I've got a pot of coffee almost done brewing and I am heading out. I need to clean out both coops today before storms set in. I also need to get the eggs out of the silkie coop. I do not trust those little fuzz balls. Leaving a days worth of eggs in is liable to set off every single one to go broody. Honestly I am very surprised and happy so far that none of them have gotten that idea in their head already. I will say one of them is trying to plant that thought though. Barbosa was sitting on them tidbitting the other day. Good grief little dude, are you a Branch in the making...stop that. Between that and leading the great silkie coop escape Sunday I am going to start permanently calling you Hector.

I have my camera fully charged so later I will have pictures. It is fluffy butt friday so I definitely need some of those.

Here's the video of the female red-shoulder I promised the other day (closer to a week ago actually  ). Youtube was being a butt so I got frustrated and then forgot about it until today...

And another from just a little bit ago, which is what jogged my memory about the first one!

I love these birds so much. I feel so honored by their presence, I don't quite know why.

I saw the eclipse too. Got woken up around 1AM. I saw 15 minutes or so of totality, then I oozed back into bed. It is super windy out there, and last night was dusty, so a bit hard to see it.

@CCsGarden got some photos.

The chooks are going to be stuck in the run all day. The wind is nasty. I hope it rains more.

So...8 chicks have enough hard feathers to be outside for a field trip. Mr Marble and Miss Buffy needed some privacy (he was showing her places to lay an egg!) So they got to go to the little coop. I have the brooder plate set up in there.
Sadly, Slowpoke is still mostly baby down so needs to stay inside. Size wise they're closer to the week old chicks anyways, so I don't feel too worried about trampling like with the bigs.
