Ha ha. Tassels needs no encouragement to stay broody. She was in broody jail multiple times last summer - sometimes for up to 5 days - and she still persisted.
But she is a sweetheart and doesn't bite. Rather she tries to pull my hand under her so she can hatch some more fingers for me.
I dragged her off the nest today and she spent about 6 minutes out and about.
Here she is refusing to let me pass by.

Like the Black Knight on Monty Python Holy Grail “none shall pass!” :gig

Cutie!

I wouldn't saddle your pet keeper w/ chick care while you're away. The keeper will have their hands full just making sure the broody gets out of the nest a couple times a day to eat/drink/exercise. That's a big job by itself. JMHO.

Well I am not leaving for a month so I hope she isn't still broody at that point. Of course, she might have gone broody again!

Are my pets chickens or Marines?
They walk then they squawk.
They poop and then regroup! :old

We don't hatch. We get Marecks vaccinated chicks only. Just our preference. Some feed stores order hatchery chicks w/o Marecks vaccination like our local feed store so we've chosen private breeders instead who absolutely offer only vaccinated chicks & are NPIP certified.
All the chicks I got from Peavey Mart (in from Hoovers) are vax for Mareks and coccidiosis.

It worries me initially as none of my other birds are vaxed but having read up on the Mareks vax it put my mind at ease.

It was a gloriously splendid day today. 22C and sunny, the chooks had a blast outside for a couple hrs.

And the took advantage of the glorious sun the sunbathe 😊

Henny just threw herself down and threw out a foot

Soooooo

Today I was looking at Fluffy admiring her new feathers and how fluffy she was when I started to compare her to Marty and Georgie with their feathers.

Is it my imagination or is Fluffy also a frizzle? It was her neck feathers that got me thinking, they are not as smooth and straight flowing down her neck like Marty and Georgie. The flip up like Clyde’s feathers. Just shorter and thicker. And her wing feathers are different.

Georgie oh wait no Marty…. Ya Marty - she and Georgie are getting hard to tell apart, I really think Georgie is Marty’s baby.

See what I mean about the feathers?? So if she is indeed a frizzle then she is the silkie feather version unlike Curly who has the regular feather version… 😳

And if so it’s good I find out now so I don’t get any ideas on getting eggs from her with Clyde!

Who knew raising chickens could be so complicated!

I think you're right. She is a silkied frizzle, too.
