I never thought to find out, but they are not all white. Hard to see in the photo, but the males are black and white and the females are brown and white. I will have to get my binoculars out to see details and then I can probably identify. Could be Buffleheads, but I need to see them closer. We get a lot of different kinds of ducks, but this one is the most common.

Yes I saw they weren’t all white.

Looking at the breeds of ducks that frequent Washington and have their young in this area, DH and I think this is the one. It is the Bufflehead. This female looks black and white, and it may be shadows on the river, but she seems more brown to us.

Does the first pair of ducks on the river this year count as a Tuesday twofer? Beyond this bank is a slough which makes a popular nesting area for the ducks and geese each year. Best picture I can get with a phone camera, especially since they are on the other side of the river.

Pour on ivermectin for mites/lice right? Buffy gave them to Marble...I need to treat them both before we bring chicks out there. Managed to catch the poor guy again and he's crawling with bite marks above his vent. He was clean when I got him home, and Buffy came from a free range flock.

And diatomaceous earth for the coop...
