Why ever not, they wouldn't leave a crumbI don't think that would go well.
Poop on the actual switches...Why ever not, they wouldn't leave a crumb![]()

I recommend you get a good mechanical keyboard, preferably wireless so you can move it away from the chooks.
I can go try to get her picture. She likes to dart out so it's tough...plus Yeti is an attention hog.Cuties!
No Periwinkle?
Chickens love sand & will kick it around once they find out how much fun it is ~ you might need higher than a 2x4 board to contain sand. I put together a 4x4 cedar raised garden bed as a sandbox/dustbath for our chickens 10 yrs ago. There's a 10x10 popup canopy over it to keep sand dry during rain & shady during summer. No matter how wet or dry the yard is, the sandbox is always used by the hens.It is plastic you are correct, with a steel frame. The idea to use bolts is genius, Thank you and your neighbor.
I think I will use the freestanding nest box I have then, based on your feedback.
I could just put in a 2x4 on the floor, to contain the sand, right under the roosts. I like that idea, much easier.
Thank you so much!
Shade trees, shade tarps, tiny fans in & under the coop, spraying the top levels of the run litter, ice in the waterersI am sorry your weather has turned extreme. It’s hard on both humans and animals these extremes in temps.
Question to everyone:
How do you keep your chooks cool in the heat of summer?
