Stitchin' chickens
He tucked Buffy behind him when I opened the coop to refill the food and water. Didn't do anything else, but I'm happy he's perky.I know right?!
Same with my crew when they had them. I felt so bad for them!

Two years and I am still looking for one of my fake eggs that got lost!Somehow, one of the fake eggs got lost. It's not in the nest, and I can't find it buried in the shavings in the coop. I know it'll turn up, it's just weird that it's gone.
It sort of disappeared a few days ago, but I found it in the fluffed up shavings in the nest box. I'm not sure what's going on. It's the brown ceramic egg. They haven't done this to the blue one in the other nest box.

You are back??!! HI!I had a whole reply typed out explaining my chook situation, and I accidentally deleted it.
Yes, there's free ranging involved. 21 of them are still teeny chicks, but they will be free ranged, along with seven(?) of my adult chooks. I also have different large sections of my coop and run blocked off so that different groups have room.
Also, @Ponypoor, not all of them have names... I'd say, 25 don't![]()
Hey Jenn, do you remember this one?:View attachment 4084103
Had to send this to hubby.
I know that feeling. My church benefits from my chickens labor as well. One big feathered family and are church members too.I had some very happy neighbors last night.
I have sort of been hoarding eggs this last week. I did sell 3 dozen at the beginning of the week. I also sent my grandpa home with a dozen so he has 2 dozen at home to do him for a bit. I've been waiting on my sister to stop by as she has not visited in almost 2 weeks and she had called me Tuesday saying she needed eggs this week. She finally stopped by last night with her empty 18 count carton and filled it up with all the "pretty" eggs. She loves to bake and uses my tiny silkie eggs for egg washes and had only put 3 in it. I informed her she should take more because starting April 4th she will not get anymore for a while. Well, she filled up one of my empty 12 counts with the silkie eggs and picked 3 more big pretty eggs. Since Sara picked and choosed between all my neatly dated eggs I had 5 dozen leftover. I sent Rosie and Maddy on a delivery service. First one this year, all my neighbors who love my eggs each got a dozen for free.
The girls came back with 10 empty cartons they had been saving, 3 loves of bread to give to the chickies and this picture.

The picture and the bread came from 2 gentleman at the end of my block. The girls said they told them I should hang it on the silkie coop. I love the picture and it is now on my fridge. My silkies are their favorite chickens and they told me last week they were sad I had penned them up as they loved watching them play in my yard. One of them had silkies years ago. Last Sunday they caught me outside and came and visited. Not me, they visited the silkies inside the pen and came armed with raisins for treats.
It is very nice to know that not only do my chickens bring me joy, but others as well.
