The little ones have been quiet all morning. Just now, I’m starting to hear little peeps from the brooding box.

In 23, I let my 3 welsummer broody hens hatch eggs.
For these Leghorns, I ordered them from McMurry. I was going to go with more Welsummers but my son has been wanting more eggs and Leghorns fill that billet. He has 7 kids, they go through a lot of eggs.
Currently of my 14 welsummers, I have had a 12egg day, so I know 12 are laying, one thinks she is broody. Welsummers don't lay everyday, I think all 13 are laying. So to be able to get my son eggs and to be able to sell some I am adding the laying machines.
I had Leghorns before we moved in Ja. 22, I loved them. I am getting a Welsummer rooster with this chick order. They are the very best docile roosters ever, but big.
so, Chick week is June 2.

OK. I will stop complaining about the drop from 80°F to below freezing immediately.
Just brrrr.
No snow but still brrr.

All seven littles popped out from under mama and are now busy having their breakfast. (Chick starter).
