Are the plastics in the 3D chicken safe? Some things that are plastics can be toxic to breathe or eat off of? I don't know much about 3D.
I wouldn't use 3d printed plastic (pla is what I use) for anything that touches food or water, the layers can be very tight but it still seems porous to me. I don't have a system to chemically smooth my prints, so it's just not for me.
That said, I am 100% printing that cute chicken from the article and probably the cord port too. Hubby says it looks like it would be handy for hoses too, might just need scaled up a bit.
Thanks for the link @Ponypoor 😀

Fun fact, PLA plastic is made from corn starch and will biodegrade with time. Certain additions that strengthen the filament, like carbon fiber, nylon, or metal, will remain though.

We have to wait for an update since the software has an error, that's why my multicolor prints were falling. But, I can do single colors still! Here's a bendy rex printed for kiddo

Good afternoon everyone.

Today is a rough day and one with mixed emotions.
It is dad's birthday but it is proving so hard to feel up to celebrating. Today also marks 1 year that Grandma passed away and it hit hard as soon as I woke up. I think about her all the time. So much has happened in the last year that she would have loved. She never got to see George. She wanted a polish before her mind finally slipped. She would love the silkies I have accumulated and already have pushed me to have the incubator up and running and full of their eggs. My yard is full of the "wild" greens that she so loved I do not know why but I have had the urge to pick a mess full. I'm also setting myself up for a fight with the chickens but I brought several of her planters home last weekend. They are ready to go and by Tuesday will be full of black seeded simpson lettuce and green onions. That was one of our favorite meals in the late spring early summer, "Kilt" or wilted Lettuce and onion salad with fresh piping hot cornbread. It has been awhile since I have had a "bad" day. Today I'm having a bad day and I feel exactly how I felt a year ago.

I hope you got to spend some time with your emotional support chickens (and I hope Barbosa and/or George needed some lap time!)

Hope you and your Dad have a better day tomorrow (well, today, now). I know it is hard, especially on significant days - but all of your memories are also a way to hold onto her in a meaningful way. Keep some of her traditions alive and cherish her memory. At some point in the future, you will cherish them as oppose to them feeling painful.

What the heckle is this comb shape? It's some kind of hybrid I guess...
Looks sort of rose comb.....crossed with a v-comb? V-comb crosses can do funny things. Cheetah's rose comb crossed with Thing's V came out looking pure rose x 2 on pullets. Not sure if gender affects the shape of the comb beyond roo vs hen size.

Hmmm, well I had observational proof the other day of their Velociraptor Lineage!!!!

Let me tell the tale:

As you know, I have a bit of an issue with rats. I saw one scurry across the run near me.. Quick as I could, I raised my foot, hoping to kill it. Alas - they are quicker than me, but I managed to pin it's tail beneath me foot.

OMG - the blood curdling cries the rat let out because it was trapped!

Even more OMG.....

All of a sudden my foot was surrounded by a dozen hens - each trying to peck the screaming little bugger. Literally - I had to push them away with both hands - pecking and trying to foot stomp the bugger - so I could safely dispatch him without hurting them!!!!!! -

But it gets better - the minute the rat was dispatched and no longer screaming - all but one of the velociraptors disappeared. The one that remained tried doing gentle, inquisitive pecks at the small amount of blood that came out it's nose.

It was like his screams were battle cried, and the chickens were worked up in a frenzy....but the minute the 'battle' was over, they just went about their business 'nope, nothing to see here'

@Ponypoor don't ever fall down in the barn and then cry from pain - they will be on you in an instant! Eyes? nope, not anymore! Tender abdomen - yum - those organs are GOOD. Oh, we aren't torturing her anymore - she's dead??? Well, lets just let her be until we get really, really hungry!

I'm not sure if I should have screamed (oh, no, I guess that wouldn't have been a good outcome for me!), cried, laughed, or hidden. literally, in an instant I was surrounded by fighting mad hens!

I love my Welsummers, they are pretty quite,
but in June I am adding some Leghorns back to the flock.

I always wanted Wellies but opportunity to own was never convenient. You must post pics!

We have Gorilla Carts too! 2 of them actually ~ both new & old styles. Sturdy little wagons!

Love the bendy Rex. I had a bendy snake as a kid. Loved it. I think it was wood carved.
