Yesterday was the first day Sybil skipped laying! That means she laid 123 eggs in a row without a break! I got another egg from her today. I don't know who laid the thin-shelled egg but all eggs were normal yesterday so fingers crossed it was just a one time glitch!

Here's a video from the other day. Gytha was a little bit ornery 😆

Closest thing to a mug shot I have, Happy MONDAY!!

Looks sort of rose comb.....crossed with a v-comb? V-comb crosses can do funny things. Cheetah's rose comb crossed with Thing's V came out looking pure rose x 2 on pullets. Not sure if gender affects the shape of the comb beyond roo vs hen size.

I was thinking it looked like it might be a buttercup comb??? Not sure what they look like until fully developed, as I have never has a buttercup combed bird......but it doesn't look like how my rose comb wyandottes looked like this past fall as they grew - their combs looked more 'smooshed' and they were 'filled in' more in the center. That said, this was the first time I had anything but a single comp or pea comb in my flock. I would like to see more pics of it in a few weeks to monitor how the comb develops as s/he ages!

@rural mouse
What does a v comb look like when it does 'funky things' when combined with some other comb type?

Discussion about with pics from someone's breeding experiment.

V-comb is INcompletly dominate, so good odds it will show up, but not completely over write the other comb gene.

Buttercup looks pretty close, combined with v. However, none of the breeds listed have a buttercup comb

3 toes? But chickens have FOUR toes & some have FIVE? I guess chickens aren't what most people associate as dinosaurs after all? There's been some debate that chickens aren't reptilian at all. Chickens as all birds have been classified under the dinosaur umbrella but T-Rex & chickens are not related ~ just as humans are classified under the mammal umbrella like dogs are but humans & dogs aren't related (despite some owners LOOKING like their dogs) 😂.

The duck-billed platypus lived along dinosaurs but is classified a mammal that lays eggs? Crazy!

Their fourth toe was further up the foot and never touched the ground.

They are still Alex's chick's. They were hatched on his ground and he has cared for them
I’m starting to rethink that idea. They are jungle fowl breed. Aggressive birds that have been bred for cock fighting, and good at fighting too! But I’m still just thinking about how all of the birds might Get along well or not.

So do I. They were my mom's. It's a set, actually. The green one is the next size down, then a red one, then a blue one. I don't have the blue one. It broke about 55-60 years ago. I have a vague memory of it.
Sally, that sounds like a song 🎶 vague memories, like misty colors in my mind. Memories of green, red and blue so many years ago.,
:hugs
