It is good for your business but sad really. Those nice neat manicured yards are pretty without any weeds but not for me. My yard is full of *weeds* but it is good for the bees, horses, chickens and frankly people. I have dandelions, thistle, plantain and several other edible weeds or greens that my grandmother called weird names. Speckle dock or speckle dick, she used both variations for the same plant and I forget some of the rest but I know the plant when I see it. Every spring for the last 13 years when she was not physically able to get down on the ground herself she would grab a chair to sit in the middle of the yard and point. I would fill up a 13 gallon trash bag or two for her of wild greens to cook. She would cook them like she did mustard from her garden. Some I liked, dandelions and the blue thistle are very tasty on their own. Some to me were a bit bitter and I could do without. Back then it was a bit annoying, but I never complained. I also learned how to cook them as well. Last week I was out in the yard and out of the blue I spotted a thistle. I then started looking and there everything was, all of it up and enough to easily fill up a garbage bag. I came very close to grabbing a knife and grocery bag and start picking away. I miss doing that now, and I almost craved a bowl full of it.
I should just put the dandelions I pull up from the job site and throw them in my yard. I don’t mind them being planted in my yard.

I think this is more about respect for grandmother, than a bunch of weird weeds. :old :barnie:hugs
It probably is a bit. Oh how I still miss her. Sometimes things still hit me. Last night and this morning for example, she would have been glued right by my side staring into that incubator. I would have had a fight on my hands as she would have insisted opening up the lid to hold them before they even dried off.

Would you be willing to share recipes? And pics of each of the greens?

How does the chick push its way out of the cup? I am interested to see this in action.
So they pop the egg top off and crawl over, there is enough space to rock side to side. I'll try to get video of them hatching.
Hey can you remind us what the eggs are? Those blue ones are lovely.
Cochin americana crosses. She says the brown are pure cochin, but we determined last year with Biscuit and Birch they had some other breed in their lineage as well. I do not mind, I will have bowling balls with hairy legs and some will have cheeky poofs!!!
I like the way that Marble goes about his business. He's a good one. I'm glad you're boys are getting good instruction.
Me too. He's very chill but definitely lets them know what is good manners
Hope you are feeling better today!!
Still itchy and broken out. Breathing fine though. My mom thinks I'm allergic to chickens 🙄
I'll be sure to request that be tested. And if I am...well I'd better get on allergy shots. No way am I giving up my flock, not after all I've gone through.

I am another weedy yard person. I have one area I only mow once a year so everything does it stuff. And like @RebeccaBoyd 's grandmother I am not above grazing from the back lawn.
I share my Artemesia (Common Mugwort/Wormwood) with the chickens.
Pooh collapsed in a clearance between the big clumps of Mugwort.
