Sent the girlies outside. They immediately found bugs to eat and sunbeams for bathing.



My issue is...how will I catch the little boogers to show them the inside of the coop where the heat plate is?

- One Blue Partridge
- One mystery pale chick
- Two true blue chicks
- One shrink-wrapped (it had a hard start in life, it needs to stay)

Happy Friday everyone. Fluffy butts and dandelions.

The power pole to the house snapped. JCP&L gave no number I could use to report the issue and their website said to call 911. That seemed a bit extreme so I called the local police dispatcher to ask for advice. She sent 3 police vehicles with lights and sirens!
They at least called JCP&L who are here now in force digging and replacing the pole.
I had a long list of productive things I was going to do today. They all require power.

Is that rain today?

I guess our meager rain/sprinkle days are over. Yesterday near 100F & over 90 already this morning. Our SoCalif weather goes from cool rain to sudden heatwaves in less than a week's span!

Time to get the sprinkler going again for the girls

Naps make everything better!

I swear, I plugged my phone in to charge, refilled the kiddo's water bottle, and in that time both of the remaining blue eggs hatched! Pop pop!
I do like being able to quickly snag the egg cartons out without fully opening the lid, and sliding in another piece of damp paper towel to keep the humidity up. This system seems to be working for me and my specific hatching situation.
The brown eggs are mostly pipped now, all 5 are rocking and peeping at least.
@RebeccaBoyd it's quite nice hatching along with you. I hope the rest of your babies are all happy and healthy. I'm sorry you lost the two, that's never fun but it sounds like you did everything right. fingers crossed you get another sassy girl like Poppet!!! But not quite as sassy as Turkey, haha

No, I didn’t sleep alone last night. This beautiful blonde girl (scared of the other chickens) stayed with me. We saw movies ate popcorn and had some daddy and his little baby chicken time together.View attachment 4118725

This one doesn’t want to roam around outside. She prefers my company, and always hops on my shoulder. She won’t mix with the rest of the chooks. She can fly around with no issues, but chooses not to. Her favorite place is laying on my chest.

Marilyn yes. Petite blonde, with a big mouth (beak) totally loves me forever
