Miss Nacho has decided to come in the house for some fresh treats and the air conditioning. image.jpg

2 more have hatched overnight and another is fully zipped and resting. All it needs to do is straighten it's neck out and it will be fully hatched. I will say I now have 3 definite keepers. One of the new ones is throwing me for a loop a little bit. It is probably blue, but its color is just so light compared to the rest of the blue chicks. I need to wait until it is fully dry and fluffed up and I will get your all's opinions. I first saw it and thought how the heck did I end up with a white one. It is not white though, there is some color to it. I will have to keep this one, my only other blue partridge and 1 of the many solid blues.

You know, if I were another generation along I would call this chick a splash. It can't be though I do not think. I would need blue gene's from both parents right? The blue is only coming from Barbosa and Davy as they both hatched from eggs from a BBS pen. My hens do not carry blue.

Unless we think of Grandma Poppet. Have I had a dark blue partridge all along and just never realized it?

"Silver Partridge" are also called "Gray" in the APA. Breeders didn't like the plain word gray & started calling these Silkies as silver partridge. The APA has remained Gray in their listing.

Our Suzu was a gray chick & grew up very much a Silver Partridge ~ to my eye I don't see much difference between Silver Partridge & a Blue Silkie but what do I know? Silkie breeders have crossed so many colors over time.

Home from my dr. Appointment. It was a surprise date night, hubby got me burger king after. He actually set aside money so we could have our date ❤️ 🧡 💛 💚
Bought more feed for the birds, so now we have the weee bitties moved.
The 6 from blue eggs are in their new digs so the 5 brown eggs will have peace and quiet to hatch. 🙂 20250509_175604.jpg
You can almost see them under there 😏
The six chicks outside are doing well, they certainly have Marbles attention. If he trusted me enough to carry him I would bring him over to meet them, but sadly he is still way too uncertain of me. He loves babies though, and he is doing important work teaching the big chicks how to be chickens.

Breezy has a funny habit. He's learning to tidbit, he does great, then goes "ooo a treat" and eats it 😆

So pretty, too bad they aren’t chickens

Woke from my nap to find JCP&L equipment all over my front yard, but the guys have all gone home!
And JCP&L sent a text saying it was all fixed.
Ummm. Not really. No new pole. No power. No guys fixing it.
Sigh.
Ok what am I missing!? Here I reading backwards again.
