Something strange happened to me today. I was at my local gas station/food market, and when I was buying gas, the cashier (Andrea) said to me, “hello there Alexander, it’s nice to see you here again. Last time you were here, your eyes were looking tired. Today your eyes are bright and shining!” I didn’t know what to say about that. I thanked her, paid her for the fuel and left, wondering what she had been thinking?
Maybe I knew exactly what she was thinking. I am a bachelor after all. :idunno

Ooooh, beautiful! Love seeing pics of the adults out and about!

Goldie Bird needs to be in with your great polish roo, Marble, - he will teach him some manners! Maybe just Goldie bird and one or two of the other troublesome boys - Marble and Buffy will teach them! And there wouldn't be other pullets for him to attack....Don't know if that is a possibility or not..... just a couple young, hormonal boys in with the adult pair???
Might do it! He was picking fights with the other boys when I was out there. He thinks because he stands the tallest he is big boss, well Slowpoke and Cooper knocked him over and made him behave.
@SimpleJenn

:goodpost: Marble will educate what Buffy doesn't...and the hormones will drive them to test Buffy, giving them a GREAT lesson early. Any others head that way, add them in also.

Marble's School for Gentleroos. Placing them will be easier (and the recalcitrant ones will be clear in a hurry)
I'm going to keep an eye on them the next few days and decide. So far the only two that go for the girls have gotten their butts kicked by either the other boys, Marble, or Buffy. We do plan on eating nearly all the boys...

The ones that get their butts kicked and persist....on repeat should move to the top of freezer camp list, then.

Sometimes, people just care about others - some people are observant and thoughtful - without ulterior motives!!! Be thankful that someone noticed . and let it make your day - just like your lovely ladies and handsome roos do!

What a pretty bunch they are!
:love
Ty, I am smitten 😍. The spangles and the floofs, opposites in every way. I am glad it’s working out so well. I may have to get a few more silky pullets though to even out the littles and bigs.

The SFH Roos are quite obvious so I will end up with 6 pullets and 1 Roo and the two Silkies. The silkies are like a half a chicken each right …and you can’t have just one of a breed …. So what’s a few more right??? 😂 I am sure this mental gymnastics makes sense somehow.
I thought maybe it ate a radioactive spider......

I would love this 10x if I could, what a lovely photo of the celebration.

I have some good news and some sad news.

The good news is my little Partridge chick is perfectly fine today. Robust, lively and I have periodically broke out the stethoscope and listened to its lungs. Clear sounds, no hint of anything. I think I got very lucky with it.

Now for the sad news. The little splay leg chick passed away this afternoon. It was doing so good, the best I have ever had a splay leg chick do. One minute it was fine the next it seized and was gone.

This was my 5th chick with splay legs over the years, the 4th I have had hatch out. They have been different breeds, a Ameracuana, 2 Marans, and 2 silkies. Not one of them has made it to a week old. This silkie was the first that showed any improvement as far as the legs go and was able to be mobile. I had hopes for this one. I will never know but I fully believe the splay legs was not their only health issue. I believe each one has something going on internally as well. They all have started out strong, growing and eating and drinking. Then they crash and are gone within hours or minutes in todays case.

I'm not doing it again. From here on out if I get a splay leg chick I will humanely euthanize when I pull it from the incubator.
