She hopped up on my shoulder while I was working on the laptop. Thankfully I wasn’t in a meeting haha.

And settled in for a roost - until
That moment I was so worried they would be crazy wild, being factory hatchery raised to POL.

They finally all have names!

So I have finally named all the chicks. Some of these photos aren’t great, but they are the most recent I have.

Pearl, most likely a Sapphire Splash.

Inspired by some recent posts on this thread…..
Lucy and Ethel, the Crested Cream Legbars. Lucy is the “redhead”, of course.

Cassie, suspected to be a Silver Laced Sebright.

Belle and Beauty, believed to be Gold Laced Cochin bantams. Name was due to me trying to think of Disco themed names due to their “bell-bottoms”. When suddenly Belle popped in my head, and Beauty was a nice counterpart. This is just Belle, but they look almost identical.

Look at that fluffy foot!

The silkies, Ebony (the black ones, of course), Ivory, Blanca, and Snowball. Can only tell the white ones apart by their legbands. lol

And of course I have already introduced Angel, most likely a Porcelain D’uccle. And my new “shoulder chicken in training”.

Well it has been a roller coaster the past week.

Found someone to take the meatbird chick last Thursday, so no longer stressing about it but also sad to see her go.

Sunday night we finally lost Scarlett due to her ascites. :hitI will miss her terribly. She was my “shoulder chicken”, the only one who really kept flying up on me o feel they were grown. And she is also my avatar. She was three years old.

And Buffy, one of my last 2 Isa Browns from my original flock has also come down with Ascites, and it progressed rapidly. I first noticed it about two weeks ago. Yesterday she was already in so much distress that I made the decision to drain her a little. It went well, but I know it is a temporary measure to make her more comfortable. And it also comes with risks like shock or infection. She did seem to feel a little better today, it I know it is only a matter of time until I lose her too.

I do also have happier news and pics. Will post those separately. And not sure if it will be now or tomorrow as it is getting late. And I have a time of quotes saved from posts I want to reply to and have not gotten to it yet. 😅

Sorry to hear about Scarlett how sad when our best buddies leave us.

But you turned down Sebrights?
Do you have a fever? 🤒 are you feeling sick? I have NEVER heard of anyone turning down Sebrights.
They are magnificent birds and I can’t find any here.
I hope Cassie turns out to be a magnificent bird. They had several like her in the bin at TSC when I got the bantams.

Okay, so let me provide an explanation as to what's going on.
So, today I'm still not getting any better. I feel like talking it out and trying not to think about it too much helps. Food doesn't quite help. Yesterday, an appointment for the doctor has been made but I won't be going there until September 11th. My stomach feels fine now but I took a nap several hours ago and I woke up with a headache. I still have a mini headache, but hopefully I can sleep well. Now, here are pictures and I'll add in more pictures tomorrow, as well as a Caturday.

Not until Sept 11? Why so long to get in to the doctor? I hope you are feeling better.
The chicks are very beautiful.

We were poor...we had to settle for irrigation canals :idunno

When I was 5 we lived with my grandparents, uncle and his family, and my aunt, in an huge, ancient farmhouse in Arizona. Almost like an old plantation house. There was a concrete horse trough that must have been at least 5’ x 10’ and about 2’ deep that we would all cool off in. Wish I knew what happened to the picture of me in that trough. I remember the worst part was that it was really rough on the bottom and would mess up my swimsuit if I scooted around on my bottom. 😂

Always remember to think things through before you do something stupid!
It’s hot out today, so I went out to visit with the feathered family. I wasn’t wearing a shirt, and when those little claws scratched all over me, I said oops, big mistake, huge mistake.
I’m in the house now mending my wounds.
Bobby goes out with the flock all the time with no shirt. A few weeks ago he was holding Lucky (one of the ducks) and she bit his nipple. :lau

They “mouth” us all the time on our hands and things. They have to “taste” almost everything, especially anything new they encounter. But he said she bit down pretty hard.

I have some hats like that!

You would have to catch her first. That little bird is FAST. :wee

Phyllis would have NEVER permitted that. Not elegant at all.

Yes, true. And the paparazzi are always looking to catch you at your worst - the glamorous can never go out in public looking anything but their best!!!!

This is such a good picture of Phyllis - she is beautiful, and the lighting is perfect to catch her iridescence.:love:love:love:love:love
