I think Breezy and @featherhead007 would get along. Heck, any one of my boys would like to live in his chicken heaven.

But Breezy is a gentle soul, if I hadn't slacked on the cuddles he'd be a lap rooster I think...

Don't you ever feel guilty over George being a boy. I was destined to have him. He was there for me when I needed him after loosing Branch. It has been a absolute pleasure to watch him grow up and blossom. He has taken on the role of flock rooster flawlessly and with that he has became less of a momma's boy. I still can get my snuggles in when I need them, but, he is a very busy little man these days. He is very smart and learns quickly. I can now say he is also great with the chicks. It just took a thumping from Gryffyn when he got too close for her comfort to Georgina that first day. He did not retaliate, but backed off and found a corn kernel and called them over to feed them. He hovers at a respectable distance around Goose and her baby watching over them then dashes to the coop entrance to peek in on Gryffyn and her two. All the while trying to keep tabs on the rest of the girls, attend to escort duties and toe the line Mrs. E demands and stay at her personal beck and call. The poor boy has a lot on his plate and deserves the nightly snuggles now that he is once again bug free. I've spoiled him and like Drumstick before him he now waits for me to pack him to bed. Even when I am dead tired and get home after dark from work first thing I have to do is put George up at night. He could go into the coop and hop up beside Mrs. E himself but no he waits for me. He sits on the dog crate beside the silkie coop even when it is pouring the rain.
Now that is what love is all about!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

There was a third, broken soft shelled egg as well. I think it was Blues though.
There is nothing like the joys of having a new egg layer. That blue is so pretty. I used my last egg of Owly's last week. I miss her and believe it or not I miss her pretty green eggs as well. My sister was very upset when she heard of Owly's passing. She is now scouring facebook herself. I've been warned, she is looking for another easter egger hen. I told her I did not want to brood anymore chicks myself this year after I put the silkies outside so I would not go buy a few more chicks. She is on a mission to find a adult. This time she wants a blue layer instead of a green layer. I'm not helping her, I just do not have time. I also told her I need at least another month before she thinks of buying a new pullet/hen. I need the smaller coop open during the day so I can isolate her. I figure the silkies will need it for a good month during the day when they go outside before they get integrated into the silkie pen.

So, the silkies turn 6 weeks old tomorrow. I really lost a week somehow. I was thinking they were getting ready to turn 5 weeks old until I went back and looked to see when they hatched. So yup, it's official, they start going outside during the day by the weekend, it is time.

These are not the greatest pictures. They are friendly with me but are terrified of the camera and panic every time I use it.

First up is Calypso. I'm ready to call color now and have been for about 2 weeks. At hatch I really thought splash but not anymore. Calypso is a dominate white chick. I knew it was a slim possibility of hatching one as it was definitely on Branch's side of the family tree as his parent's produced to my knowledge 3 dominate white chicks.

Next we have the dark partridge Lucky who almost choked to death at a few days old. This one will end up looking like Reba and her sister Lorrie as a adult.

Next up is Bingo. I thought Bingo was a blue partridge at hatch but with the coloring coming in black I was wrong. Normal partridge. I am perfectly fine with that though as the juvenile feathers are revealing a secret he/she was keeping. The crest is coming in jet black. Bingo is a moorehead partridge. I am definitely not complaining at this new development.

Last but definitely not least is Bluey. This one is also a bit of a surprise color wise. Hatched out with the palest silvery blue hatch down and look at her now. Still blue but several shades darker then I predicted.

Not one of them is bearded but they are showing signs of having very nice crests. I can say with them not having beard that no hint of wattles yet either which is very good at this age. They all are looking rough and coming out of the ugly stuck a toe in a light socket stage. 1 or 2 more molts and 4 more weeks and then I can start really staring at them and trying to determine genders. For now, they are still girls to me and they had better stay that way.
