Is that an ironing board as a perch? I've been wondering what to do w/ my old one...🤔?

I have nothing to do today really, so I took my lounge chair into the yard, I covered myself with soldier fly larvae, and yelled “come and get it!” Chooks from everywhere came out from hiding, and they attacked!
Yes, I was wearing my chicken clothes.

New Routine

Since I fenced off the area next to the garden for the Phyllistines, every evening the entire flock has gathered together in that grass once the sun has set behind the house and the area is shaded.

They did so again tonight.

As you can see, everyone was there, including Hattie. I did give everyone some mealworms as a treat. They all seem to have survived today's heat pretty well.

3 more days to go.

I love getting good news

It's so peculiar to me how everyone loves their Buff Orps or Australorps. My neighbor had a bully Buff Orp in her flock & my BYC friend had a bully Austrolorp so I shy'd away from any Orps. Then we ordered 2 Buff Leghorns which we suspected the breeder used Buff Orps for his breeding project since he was trying to breed out the brown eggs from his Buff Legs line. Our Buff Leghorns turned out to be aggressive flockmates & we had to rehome them to a neighbor's layer flock :(

Danne Honour's breeding project of Buff Legs are gorgeous birds. His birds are posted on feathersite.com

It is always important to remember that every chicken is an individual. Breed characteristics are just generalizations. They can indicate a trend but outliers always exist.

Well here's mine! It's a small board. Now a ramp from the brooder to this covered bed. They get a couple little excursions out each day.
