There is just so much cuteness right now. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Cardhu settled into one of the favorite nest sites. I'm glad I collected the eggs earlier.

PITA is pretty settled for tonight, anyway. As active as the chicks have been, she's going to have to bail on it tomorrow.

Focus will be getting the final trio in about 2-2.5 hours. I'll leave the incubator running through the night just in case one of the pips makes it. If so, any of those will go out before daylight tomorrow. Then I'm pulling the plug on it. 20 chicks is plenty. Glad most will be leaving. How many stay vs go will depend upon what they are.

Evaluation: the tiny black ones are most likely Cheetah's grandchicks. None show a 5th toe, so will be waiting on possible crests. Light foot feathers could be from here or there. Heavy foot feathers definitely from there. Fluffy cheeks could be from either. Watching traits develop (my FAVORITE game) is beginning.

Vet said that My Pet Chicken is not NPIP [sic] - certified, news to me.
I have to refute this immediately. I don't care that the vet is wrong but people on this thread may not order from them because of the misinformation and that is unfair.

This is slander to My Pet Chicken. (See screen shot below) They even offer papers for the chickens you purchase there.

So, we need to see your papers!👮‍♀️ schnell!! What? You have no papers? Swinehount! Get in line!!
Achtung!!

I could watch momma hens and chicks all day. Im saving this for whenever I need a fix. 🥰
I stood/sat out there filming for the whole half hour. The twittering/purring of mama and babies is soothing...even the "Mama, HEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPPP!" Even if my sister wasn't visiting, this would be a great vacation.

The other soothing thing is watching/listening to hummingbirds. Both activities have enough action to be engaging while steady enough sounds to be calming. And being ignored by all the birds helps remind the world doesn't feature me (or any other human) in the center of it.

Those breeds are all awesome. I always wanted a Scottish Fold, but they are prone to ear infections. American Curls are cool too.

This is Frogger, our suspected Maine Coone mix. She’s over 10 pounds and is actually very skinny. Big and has the longest tail I have ever seen on a cat. None of these pics do her tail justice.

Cat tax - Cotton’s comb is at a jaunty angle. And not sure if it is a true walnut comb.

Frogger is a beauty!

& Cotton would've got a lesson from our old Silkie Violet. She would push her face into another chicken's beak to groom her eyebrows & beard & while at it, most of her comb got chewed off too. In later yrs she didn't allow as much excessive grooming but she did teach successive Silkie generations to groom each other's faces for better vision. Birds are smart to figure things out.

I was tempted to put a couple at the barn, but figured the chooks would
Have it eaten in no time. They are as it is digging in the palms I potted up there. Oh it’s great fun for them - brats!!

Yes this banana will flower and fruit, but the fruit is very small and full of seeds. The plant needs about a yr and a half to grow before flowering. Yes it’s a sub-tropical plant, not able to survive winters here. I haul them up and pot them for winter. Mum killed off the last one I had - it was a dwarf cavendish which would have produced proper fruit. I was out west and told her bring it inside when it gets below 20C - she left it under the gazebo and it was frosty and died. I was quite mad it was a good height and likely would have bore fruit the next summer.

My chooks won’t eat bananas, they do not like them at all.

Facsinating what you need to do to save a banana plant. As for chickens eating a banana... you just need one to start eating a piece & suddenly all the others want some! Maybe you need a couple Wellies (plus they lay speckled terra cotta eggs too...:D)
