I went out and got some pictures of the babies a few minutes ago.

We will start with the silkies. Ignore their waterer and the mud. I just cleaned and filled that thing 2 hours ago. I came back out and they had completely filled it with dirt and shavings. I swear they take after their parents. They have a 3 gallon water, and they do the exact same thing every time I fill it up with clean water. Once I scoop out the mud for the first time they stop throwing dirt and shavings in it. They must just like muddy water.

They are still too young to really begin guessing genders. I will say though I am confident on at least one being a pullet. That would be Bingo the little moorehead partridge. She just screams pullet right now. Calypso has some wild feathering coming in, but, no wattles and a very narrow comb so I'm not worried about her yet either. Honestly no wattles or super wide or obvious combs on any of the silkies so I am still going pullets on all of them right now. They are 8 weeks old today.

They were little sweethearts while they were inside. Their personalities have blossomed now that they are outside. If possible even more friendly and choose to hop up on me now. I'm trying, and failing miserably at trying not to get too attached to them all in case there is a boy in the mix. Did I mention I'm failing miserably at this.

They are adorable and thanks to momma's who do not try to eat me friendly as well. I also have a favorite who I have everything crossed is a pullet as well. I'm hoping both Georgina and Georgette are pullets. If I had to choose just 1 of them though....a certain little dalmatian spotted chick speaks to me.

I stood/sat out there filming for the whole half hour. The twittering/purring of mama and babies is soothing...even the "Mama, HEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPPP!" Even if my sister wasn't visiting, this would be a great vacation.

The other soothing thing is watching/listening to hummingbirds. Both activities have enough action to be engaging while steady enough sounds to be calming. And being ignored by all the birds helps remind the world doesn't feature me (or any other human) in the center of it.
What I thought was cute... how one of the black chicks helped itself to a drink of wild water w/ no assistance. Chicks really are ready to be self-sufficient right off the hatch ❣️

All are cute! Spotted chick ~ Pongo or Perdita or any one of the other Disney pups... or just "Spot" like Data's kitty in Star Trek... :)
