Glad I went out to check.

caught this pic, then realized I was hearing peeping behind me. One of PITA'S blondies was in the corner.

returned safely.

Those brown/gold faced chocolate/black chicks have quite a color variety....and won't pose at the same time. There's one with cheeks (future beard), one is almost red, one really blonde faced and one rich mocha....I think that's just 4 of those....but....come on, lady! Time to take them on walkabout

It depends on how dirty they look, or if it's raining when I collect them. I wash, scrub with a dedicated scrubdaddy, and towel dry them before refrigerating.
I wash every single egg, even store bought before cooking with them. Just a quirk my mom always did too.

Hopefully store bought! Imagine the germs present on those eggs

Went out to the coop to check up.

Found this

Nellie was in Focus' nest box. While working on completing egg removal, glanced down to see not 1 but 2 black chicks with Focus. Missed a pic of that. Means she has 5 and is nurturing all of them.

PITA is still in place.

Cardhu is still out...wait a minute...there's 6 chicks with her....


Ok, it's official! I'M CONFUSED AND BAFFLED AND GOBSMACKED.

All this stress is not worth a stroke or heart attack, so I’m taking things slowly today. If need be, I have my emotional support rooster, Mr Wyandottey for comfort.

@BY Bob let HRH know we have more beards and cheekypoofs growing here. I've been giving them extra spicy food to help them grow!

The one in front with the blue tail and blue head, I'm keeping my eye on them.

Okay, back to work. Honestly the bad part is wheeling the wheelbarrow up the compost pile to dump it.
