Thirsty Thursday

I was cleaning water dishes today and realized I have more watering stations than chickens.

I have 8 in total as I had already placed 2 of them back into service.

It's takes me a long time to gather them all up, clean them, and then put them back. Here is where they are:
  1. Main Coop
  2. Cluckle Hut
  3. Big Run
  4. Grape Vines
  5. Magnolia Tree
  6. Deck
  7. Patio
  8. Lilac Bush/Shed
My hens have no excuse for not drinking. 🍸 🧉 🍷 🫖 🥛

How many water stations does everyone else have? Am I crazy?
I have 3 for 5 chickens but that doesn’t include the 3 wild water stations where there are bowls of one sort or another that collect rain water for them to enjoy.

They are all velociraptors!!!
I can’t even step out onto to my porch without 8 to 10 feathered beasts attacking me. Do I smell like steak? Meally worms? Corn?
Gezz I need a vacation
Yes, you smell like a good, very rare steak. I have said this before. Rule #1 of caring for chickens is never, ever, ever, fall down in the chicken coop.

I have summer stations, winter stations, and "it rained or snow melted recently" stations. My summer stations move....

You would either complain the whole time about missing them, or take them with you.

When I can get hubby to catch a photo for me...I have been wanting an opinion on one of my chicks. about 7 weeks old. At hatch I pegged 1 as pullet, one as cockerel. Cockerel stance, super big legs....but, I am not yet seeing any cockerel type feathers... and with Dad's top know and an EE mom's muff & beards, I'm not sure.

@rural mouse I'm tempted to say all 3 are cockerels...but really would like either a better pic of the comb & wattles (side view?) of the blondie - or to get one in another week. Honestly, a bit of a toss up for that one ATM.

I've asked DH a number of times....he finally got a couple pics, but not of the WHITE MOM's chicks:rolleyes:...so....as soon as I have pics to share, I will be asking to pick your brains!!!!
The blondie is on my watch list. The dark chick pics (not shared with blondie) are the same chick, and was on my suspect list a week ago, at just 2 weeks old. He's got color in the comb, is straight combed, and I'm 98% sure at 3 weeks. Blondie is on the watch list and only just landed there. I'm reaching that point of "I want to know so I can figure out how many I can keep". I have several coloring up in ways I'm 75% certain are pullets, 1 of which is on my "I want to keep, maybe" list.

I have three water stations atm:

Main Coop
Big Run
Deck

Well four, if you count the water station I have for the bees on top of one of the hives.

The one in the deck is a water bowl and all the pets use it. 🤷‍♀️

Big run one being used by Einstein right before I rinsed and refilled today. She ran off three other hens for her turn.

I have 5 'primary' ones in the main run, plus the 'duck bath' tub - that gets cleaned every day - holds~ 5 gal. and a 4 gal. bucket for the geese to 'play in, plus 2 1qt. waterers and a 12 oz cup...then 2 rubber 1 gal dishes in the yard, and 2 primary waterers in my Route-66 cluckle hut.

Hmmm, plus, oh, never mind lets just leave it at 14! Close enough and it hurts my head thinking about all the waterers I have to clean every day (yes, ducks are very messy - only the 3 nipple waterers don't get cleaned daily - I scrub them weekly)😰😰

We had such a nice break from the humid heat and today it's back full force...

At least the humidity has dropped from 80% to 60% in the past hour. I'm ready for fall :th

Today's going to be a change the water every couple hours kind of day. And I was going to clean the coop but today isn't a good day for it. I don't want to get heatsick again. The chickens are keeping cool in the woods, the good girls. They know what to do to escape this heat!
