Camping Out
The Phyllistines wanted to camp out tonight again. I tried to record what it is like to put them to bed but it's hard to hold chickens and a phone. When I came to get them, Niamh got down and ran towards the house so I gathered up Nimue and took her to roost. Here is the video.

Well, you are their handmaiden, and of course She is a true lady and expects her handmaiden to perform his duties. 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

Would a lady of proper class ever go to be without their handmaiden's assistance??😱NEVER!😱

Meanwhile, the 'wild one' rebels against the constraints of tradition. "I'm not going to bed!" "Oh, fine, if I must, ... but I'll put myself to bed - thanks but no thanks to the pomp of a handmaiden!!!! I am quite capable myself, manservant!!!:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau

For those wondering how babies got down from last night's changes, they flew, landing about where the line is

no video. Hands were full.

Once hands got emptied, filmed this.

Sandhill cranes! I love their goofy noises. They're SO LOUD!

Chicks really master getting around so early. It's amazing how quickly they learn and develop 🥰

I was privileged to see a very pretty flight (to the line) from Cardhu's black chick (current feathers have a dusting of brown in them, very interested in adult look). Flight was well controlled, perfect landing, I suspect a Cheetah grandchick (maybe from Nellie's daughters?)

Yesterday I heard Sybil whining before she even came around the corner so I said "Sybil, what's wrong baby?!" and as she came trotting over, my dad was shocked and said "you knew it was her just by her voice?!" 🤣

They're my BABIES! Of course I can tell them apart by voice!
Some have more distinctive voices than others, which makes it easier. And some are more chatty than others which also helps. I can tell Cheetah's and Tuff's crows without looking. Whiskey and Hector sound more similar, but even them I can tell at least part of the time. The ladies are more difficult (but I have so many!)

Love the cranes. Your babies have suddenly become miniature grown-ups! Remind me, how old are they now?
🥰

Only having 5 definitely helps. All of mine have very distinctive voices. The only ones I have trouble with sometimes are Magrat and Gytha. Normally they sound pretty different but every once in a while they do the same dramatic complaining sound and they both have a relatively throaty voice. But Magrat usually just does quiet bup-bup sounds while Gytha likes to do some weird WAAA-bdabdabdabdabdabda thing 🤣
