It was. It was also hard to sell Shyam and Neela. There's really no guarantee that they will be as happy and free as they were at our home. I mean, Shyam chose us and stayed because he loved his yard and trees. That would be heartbreaking.![]()

Hubby wants to run solar with a battery backup out there, or if the wiring to our shed is safe, send it over to the coop.Silly birds.
Could you get a small battery operated generator?
That would have been rude of them...lolSo the bagpipes are crowded in front of the window (which Fenix DID NOT LIKE) and the birds?

The lightest chick there (Maple), the one daring all of us to tell her she can’t do something, is the ring leader of the band of adorable tiny mayhem makers.

Quite the possy. It’s funny though, my last flock would jump the gate and free range all day. This one waits for the gate to be opened and then mostly hides in the (wide open) run all day until around 5 pm, before they venture out. I’m sure some of it is the heat, but maybe also the cockerel keeping everyone tight during the day? Who knows. Flock dynamics are weird.
Barred Rock.Scots Dumpy? Barred Rock? Malines?
