No there are no additional chickies coming here this year.
Well in another 4 months or so then 🤔
But…. The man I get my hay from now had 18 pullets (one might be a cockerel - I’ll take a photo of it today).

2 are cream legbars with jaunty little topknots 😊👍 I am heading over there shortly with some meds for their one pullet who was attacked by a dog. His wife is a Nurse so she cleaned up the wee thing, I had a look and I am worried about the location of the wound over the hip.
Thank goodness you're there to help out ❤️
I am going to drop over some wormer (I have way too much it will just be a waste so I am sharing), and some antibiotics. Dog bites are full of bacteria.

Their kids really are enjoying them, the one youngster told her mum ‘I’m taking her for a walk, she’s going to live her best life’.

Hahaha she proceeded to pick up the pullet go for a walk - where do kids come up with these things?
😆😆😆
That's beautiful 😍. Another one about to grow into a chicken keeper that has crazy ways of counting their chooks 😉😘
The man I get the hay from stated ‘they aren’t afraid, they are constantly under foot, I have to be careful when I am using the tractor, they just don’t move’ - well now that sounds familiar! He even built them an awesome coop! It’s huge!

So only 3 are named as of yet. I told them about chicken math, and all.
😒 🤔
They are going to have such fun!

Ok well I am off to visit with them, I don’t need any more of my own chooks, I’ll enjoy everyone else’s chooks!
I hope you had a lovely day.
How's that poor chicken getting on?

Well, Cardhu appears to be done. She laid an egg today and is up on the high roost tonight. Her trio are up where they spent the night last night. I think the trio would be welcomed for warm up with Focus and/or PITA, but will bear watching.
Wow, that was quick! I know it varies how long a mom hangs onto them - but they are still a bit young to be abandoned! This is her first time, though - so maybe 'nope, never brooding again!' or, maybe next time will hold on a bit longer????????

I feel sad / helpless about Isabel today, so I made a video of her dust bathing to help remind me she's probably not having a bad chicken life.

She's mostly in the middle. She has the dark coloring. The phone made the sunlit feathers orange of her sister, strange!

Here's some pictures, I take them because it's easier to check details, like her eyes. She scratches her neck a lot, but I've looked a little and haven't seen anything there like mites or lice, just half-out pin feathers.

Dozing, or at least closing her eyes. It has occurred to me that bright light might be hard for her. Sunlight refracts through her corneas, glinting outside her eyes, visible to me.

It was hot, everyone was half-sunbathing in the heat. Then at one point they left the shade and went out into the sun for an extra dose!

Waking up to beak around a little. When you zoom in it sure looks weird but the cornea surface looks alright, doesn't it? I mean, an area I could help is with a comfort ointment but I don't see that it's needed.

Or, the others can finish the job as they're so interested...all 3 are mixed right in....to the point I have to look carefully to tell them apart.

front blue is the tailless cockerel, back one is Cardhu's blue crested.

both are part of this group, along with Cardhu's black one....I think....

The blonde... is in one of these piles.

Well she is certainly enjoying her chicken life.
It is a bit hard to tell but it doesn’t look like a cornea issue - looks like swelling around the eye.
Remind me, what did the vet end up concluding?

That straight on shot, looks like they're close to the same size. Are both eyes bulgy or is she growing into the one, or is the camera deceptive?
