:hugsTry handing out smelly treats. That they can smell a mile off
Well, she didn’t come out this morning for mealworms. After walking the dog around the property hoping to find her, I decided to check out the garage. She was roosting up in the loft! (old barn style garage) I have no idea how she got in there, except through a small open window, unless we accidentally closed her in there early yesterday morning and I only thought I saw her yesterday? Possibility. She went straight for the waterer.

These chickens! Gotta love ‘em!

Note to self: if you can’t find a chicken at bedtime, check the garage again

Super glad you found her!!!

Yep been there done that. Found Goldie hunkered down in the manure pile last winter one evening, I miscounted when I bought them inside… smart bird dug a hole in the warm manure and hunkered down.

Meanwhile I was freaking out. I seem to do a lot of that these days….. chickens!

I agree, Calypso seems neither male nor female, good for both. “Soca” or “Sokah” means Soul of Calypso. I just read that another Caribbean music genre closely related is “Kaiso”.

@RebeccaBoyd “Blackie” actually works too - there is a Caribbean connection there - Chris Blackwell was a good friend and supporter of Bob Marley and the Wailers from very early on, he was Bob’s friend for life.
Name of Hannah or Hennah... or any Henna-at-all?!

My Mom said never trust kids or puppies... & I consider chickens are like kids!😂

Such a sweetie❣️ In cuckoo Dominiques the white feathers are called "silver"... I wonder if that will be the same whenever cuckoo Silkies become a registered APA/ABA standard? The Silkie wing feathers should show crisper cuckoo patterning on your chicks.
It’s definitely a project color.

This is the hen example photo Meyers has on its website.

I see that with these guys, they both have pretty clear black and white stripes.

But Roxy has always looked quite different. I thought maybe she would not be cuckoo at all and end up feathering out blue or black. But she does seem to be getting some white (silver) feathers in a muddled stripe pattern. So I am thinking she either will change ALOT as she gets older and feathers out or she may be a blue cuckoo. I just find it interesting.

I was so upset, there I was couldn’t find her, then I thought ok check mount poopmore they were out there earlier. So got the flashlight and searched the mountain of poop, and there she was, almost missed her as she is a buff Orp, same colour as the straw hahaha.

Now I count 14 times hahaha. Darn chickens!

She has started moulting - just slowly - but fast enough to no longer look polished. She is still lovely, though 🥰

She’s the hen one of my egg clients gave to me, so I always want her to look her best if they come for a visit.

She hangs with the older ladies, rather than the girls her age. Less drama hahaha.
