Thank you. How beautiful Tax's color is. I don't know how to load up a picture of my rooster or hen. Not very computer savvy. Ok, did it!
Below is Rebekah showing off her crown. Beneath her is her baby Babette. We lost Rebekah to a dog attack. She was protecting Babette. Since then, about 7 months ago, we now have Cluck Norris. The skinny rooster that I found in the parking lot at Tractor Supply in Osteen. He has been through rough times but now he looks great and has a great set of lungs. Clockwork at 5:30 every morning. Rain or shine.
He dances (jiggy wiggy) around Babette who she is now his girlfriend. They are inseparable. She doesn't lay eggs anymore. That's okay. The day she lost her mommy she stopped laying eggs.
She is finicky, and keeps Cluck Norris on his toes. He truly loves his home and her. That is what makes us happy.

Thank you! That is Lacy (LO, Lavender Orpington) and I agree she is a beautiful color!

Lovely! 💗

So sorry about your loss. I've lost many chickens to dog attacks. 🙁

Getting up there isn’t the issue. Geronimo just launches herself and Cookie hops onto the brooder first, but Tassels believes in going to bed early in the cardboard box brooder.
Maybe once they don’t all fit the babies will protest!

What would she do if you removed the box I wonder.

Georgie and Holly took the babies to a nest box when they could use the crate. Then last night I found them up top.

We’ll see what they do tonight….

Not sure. Well she would yell at me of course. I don't know why I am in a hurry for them to roost - it just feels like another milestone!

Lost a silkie yesterday

I am several days behind on reading this thread, and it is difficult to write because I am still having a lot of trouble with my hands. But needed to tell y’all that Snowball died suddenly yesterday for no apparent reason. She was only 5 months old.

I will miss you my fluffy white feather duster.
