Lost a silkie yesterday

I am several days behind on reading this thread, and it is difficult to write because I am still having a lot of trouble with my hands. But needed to tell y’all that Snowball died suddenly yesterday for no apparent reason. She was only 5 months old.

I will miss you my fluffy white feather duster.

Weather whining tax owed photos

A few photos of the Noirans, I was only able to get photos of a couple of them, I have a hard time telling them apart!!! I’ll need to take a closer look at them this weekend.

Chick ID method... one or two toenails w/ nail polish in different colors for each chick... pink, red, blue, green. Lots of colors to choose from nowadays 😆

Happy Friday everyone.
Here is a tiny butt.

Sorry @RoyalChick , but I think that is dangerous leaving the pruners where they are! If chippy gets just a bit bigger, she has the personality to take them and attack if she is unhappy with your treats or what not!:lau:lau:lau:lau:lau. (trust me, that it the image that just popped into my mind...scary!!!!)😱😱😱

I absolutely love the stories of y'all/s flocks. I am new at raising.
Only a year. Our place has lots of eagles and hawks so I keep mine in on our house patio at night but they are outside during the day on a 22' x 40' grassy area with 50% shade netting over the area.
We lost one chick in less than 24 hours a year ago but since that day keep real close tabs on them. They originally were out by our horse barn. Too far away. Loss the chick to an owl who just stuck its claw in the 2 inch gap on the cage which was 8 x 10. Decided next to our home was best. Going to build a real coop this fall. We have grown to love our rooster and hen. Our hen is a buff orphington and our rooster was found in a parking lot. Skinny and all. Took him home right away. Want to become better at raising and taking care of our feathered kids. Been real hot in Florida but they love the fans, fresh water daily and treats, raisins, watermelon, strawberries and their usual feed. They come into patio every night at 8pm like clockwork.
Thank you for reading and thank you for sharing your stories.
I want to name our place Heavenly Hens.

I’m a Kathleen, too! Welcome!
