Thanks.Correct. Still sitting at that point. There's enough comb/wattles growth to make it very possible, but it's not as red as experience says it should be. And knowing camera colors (especially chicken skin colors) can be off, puts Chippy on the fence.
I'm usually pretty good at the guessing game but these guys are so varied in appearance, it's not like comparing chicks of a single breed that all came from the same breeder. There's always at least 1 that messes with your mind in some way, shape, or form.
That's what makes it fun!I'm usually pretty good at the guessing game but these guys are so varied in appearance, it's not like comparing chicks of a single breed that all came from the same breeder.
As far as guessing on gender with Chippie, this picture did it for me.
She is lovely. I have to smile at your comment on leg warmers. Here is Geronimo who I think is going to be rather beautiful. Her face has no hint of pink and her comb is tiny. She does have rather lovely leg warmers though!

I definitely see the green. As far as guessing on gender with Chippie, this picture did it for me.
I thought I spotted something and had to zoom in and see. Top of the tail zoom in and you will see it. One feather curves down. Then at the bottom of the tail one of the feathers has a patch of green iridescence. I also spot a bit of green shine on his back. You can see it, right smack in the middle of the last 2 shadow stripes, it stands out like a sore thumb.
I may be wrong, but with the comb and wattles at 6 weeks, I am firmly in the male camp now.
I know - and I basically blame you for this! She is lovely. I have to smile at your comment on leg warmers.
I remember a time I stated so fervently I would never have a silkie they are ugly. Along came Branch and Poppy and we see where that got me.
You my friend not so long ago stated you would NEVER have feathered feet in your flock.
Well, along came Mrs Tassels. Now you have 3.
