We grow grapes here - Ontario has a huge wine industry

And every year of course they hold grapes back for the Ice Wine. They harvest them at -8C, and we even have wild grapes growing here (dreadful things take over everywhere!) I thought of putting in grapes but keeping them pruned is a task like every thing else here.

Wild grape - I have left this small area for the chooks to use.

They hide in there - oh and now lay eggs the brats!

So that’s why Canadians are so nice they are drunk on wine I guess, and are just so submissive!
But honestly… the Royal Canadian army aka Special Forces, won the ground war in WW2 without them, we’d be eating frankfurters and pulling rickshaws!

Are your grapes bilingual? English and French

Please let me know how the weighing of a little one goes - I am wondering how accurate it is on the low end if it goes up to 110 lbs. If it seems to be good with Chippy versus one of the smaller ones - then that is a good sign.

By the way...he is so darned good looking!

It claims accuracy down to 0.2 pounds.
I haven’t got brave enough to grab a chick from Tassels yet!

Mostly the Newfoundland regiments - which were still part of Britain. Newfoundland became a Canadian province (the last) in 1949.

It was dreadfully poor, so joining Canada ensured that all the new fangled technology of the day became common place, along with education, healthcare and trade. Now it’s a very wealthy province with the off shore oil fields, and the mining that has been developed. There are around 545,000 people, we like to joke that most of them work in Alberta in the oil fields out there so at any time there may only be 1/2 that population there.

My parents came to Ontario when they were in their late teens, in the 1960s prospects were very poor for work down there. Toronto was the place to be! My parents hated Toronto, they were not used to the big city, when I was a small child they moved north of Toronto to live by a lake up here - water food and music were what I knew growing up.

Newfoundlanders have a reputation of being tough and resilient, and our military has a very large number of Newfoundlanders as it is a family tradition in most Newfoundland families for military service.

Just do it, go in quietly and firmly, they will complain but just be firm and quiet and they will settle down. They will settle when in the bag. You’ve got this!
