I really want to put it in the comment contest but maybe it's rather rude looking

Just over night, I went from 20 birds to 28 birds. I will try to get pictures later. I’m afraid to even turn around and find more. Probably all roosters too!:barnie
I know somewhere up there Sir Jaffar is laughing his … off :he

@Ponypoor The boys are pretty obvious in my opinion. They'll have a pad above the beak that will sprout the horns eventually, and by 10 weeks they should be red and have wattles.
With that hooked beak it's fairly easy to see where the comb will grow! At least it is for me. I'll try to get pics of Brainiac and Megamind tomorrow for you to compare. :) mine are 9 weeks

Some sad news -

Roxy passed, no sign of any predation, we found her in the coop. She had that odd neurological thing when she was a very tiny chick though but it cleared up after just a few days. I thought she had overcome that challenge but apparently not something was just not right. :(

Deep heavy sighhhh, how is it always those you are the most attached to that leave far to soon.

Fly high sweet Roxy

:hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs

I suspect it is because we get close to those with issues - because we spend extra time with them to monitor and/or treat.....and they just worm their way into our heart.:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

You did well by her, and because of you, she got to enjoy bit of life - a good life - and make friends and be a chicken in a way she never would have without your care.šŸ¤—

Delft with her 4 babies, right before I opened the box back up. Her sisters came to say hello first and I gave them all privacy.

I now have 11 bales of straw, hopefully that will last me until next year. I need to rake up and collect pine straw as well, and figure out a way to compact it for storage. I got 2 giant rubbermaid totes last fall and I would like to collect more this year.
