15 chickens in this pic…can you find them?

Yes - I knew they had seen something earlier as they were all looking under the hay stall door. I figured it was the rat, but then they just kept going on and on…. Noisy lot!
Once spooked the younger ones make the most noise when startled while the older ones just stare at them like "What?"

Oh no! What happened? Oh I am so sorry to hear this.

So sad when they leave us. Hopefully she and Twister are running amok together having fun.
Honestly, DH & I knew she wasn't like other Silkies right from the start as a chick. She's always been large as a Silkie, layed eggs too large for a Silkie IMO, & struggled going up the coop ladder to where we had to build brick steps for her to climb. She was just too heavy & never moved fast & was never able to fly up to our lap like the other birds. Did weight finally tax her heart? organs? :idunno

Still she made it to 5 yrs this month. I hand-fed her some seeds in the afternoon & talked to her. DH came home from errands, picked her up & carried her to the feed station where she drank water. He would ask her if she wanted to be a "football" & she would go up to him to get picked up. A few minutes later she went to her favorite cricket 🦗 foraging spot under the bench & went to sleep. She was still warm when DH went to her still body.

Suzu & Ginny were from the same hatch & early on Ginny was way bigger always.

Loss is so sad, but what a peaceful passing.
