Actually, they are crowing at the same time....they can't read clocks and know we changed the time on them!!!!
We are stupid, the chooks are a lot more reasonable. Remember, the bottom of the food chain seems to be our feathered friends.
But actually at the bottom of a chain hangs an anchor, strong, powerful, holding the largest ship from moving. Let’s give our chooks a bit more credit shall we? :barnie

How was everyone's weekend? Today was my mother's birthday. I don't have any new chicken photos. I haven't gotten to them lately but here's an old photo from the summer because I miss summer and the warm weather. With daylight savings time and the weather getting colder, I guess I'm just going to have to wait.

That is an adorable picture. I'm a child of summer. 💞

I miss my mother too! :hugs

I need to explore Roovolution in preparation for a grown Mr. Chips. The poor guy is decidedly hen pecked at the moment.
It is hard to get alone time with him to build trust - but when I have a crowd of big ladies all mobbing me for treats he has learned to come to the back of the crowd just beside me and slightly back so I can slip him a few treats. He clearly knows I do that for him so that feels like a very small start.
Here he is wishing you all a happy Monday.

He's growing so fast. What a handsome lad!💞

Poor Andrew! You make him dress like that!
Not sure who Andrew is... but as for DH, he did the costumes on his own. Mostly stuff from thrift stores!

Just to keep them out of the servant’s quarters is easier to do from inside. It is just the triangle at the top. I can put chicken wire over it.
Netting for the rafters is a big effort. It is 8-9’ up on sloped and uneven ground.
I guess what I have been pondering is why isn’t it OK for them to go up there if they want to? I guess I worry it is a long way down though both Eli and Babs managed to get down OK.
Maybe rafters chickens is OK??
My worry about high perches is, it can cause bumblefoot, if they continually have to jump down, but mostly in heavier birds. I never worried about it with my bantams.

None of our Silkies ever got bumblefoot but our Dominiques did ~ but not from coop perches ~ our perches were padded w/ Ace stretchy bandage wraps. They got bumble instead from snoozing/perching on raised garden bed stone borders & perching on sandbox raised cedar edges!
