FBA chicken's weekly synopsis
01 Nov to 07 Nov 2025
Previous week’s
synopsis by ManueB
BY Bob
Seem Niamh can’t
hide away from Eowyn, that was a great try though!
RebeccaBoyd
Haven’t heard from Rebecca this week, I imagine she is very busy at work though – Hi Rebecca!
rural mouse
Trimming those crested and bearded/muffed breeds is a must if you wish to have them roaming outside the coop.
It’s
reassuring to hear that young cockerels being thumped by older hens is for their own good.
And another wonderful video of the
grand exit (AKA Clown Car Exit) in the morning.
Thirsty Thursday and a
Fluffy Butt Friday!
RoyalChick
Seems Cookie is a character – I think she knows quite well
where she’s going – she just wants to stay out longer!
Mr. Chips is growing up to be a
lovely cockerel – please stay that way buddy! You’re too cute to be a brat!
Very sorry to hear of RC’s friend
passing away, a kindred spirit who
enjoyed the hens also.
Love how the ‘Littles'
stay as far away from the 'Bigs' as possible.
A
Fluffy Butt start to the day.
SimpleJenn
Jenn linked her
member interview for all to review – thank’s Jenn!
This week featured many good ideas on dealing with Roos and cockerels. Jenn
has a few of her own.
And check out these
Fluffy Butts!
featherhead007
Mr Featherhead seems to have
grown his flock this year – and they are very lovely chooks.
We need to see more photos of those lovely chooks of yours.
Micstrachan
A discussion was started on how best to
assist with Bridge roosting in the evening before her Hooman can get home and put her to bed. Bridge has a bit of a
mobility problem.
A bit of
trial and error to find the best way to assist Bridge.
lightm
It was so lovely to see light’s hens, we
hadn’t seen them in a while - even moulting they are lovely.
Kattabelly
Seems that some hens are just so ridiculous when broody that
they get all somersaulting just to keep eggs under them!
More discussions on
young cockerel behaviour.
notabitail
Yay! A correct day finally!
Two-for Tuesday.
And I had high hopes…. Here’s a
Mugs Monday on a Tuesday J
bgmathteach
This week also featured some ideas on enrichment and safety for the chooks, bg’s idea of a
second pop-door is a great idea for any coop.
I had forgotten about fuentemoon’s girls
wanting to go for ‘walkies' in the neighbourhood until bg mentioned in!
Cockerel
behaviour is a serious topic, and it great hearing everyone’s suggestions.
Labsandchickens8
Bed time drama seems to be something we all deal with, some
suggestions were tossed around on how to make the process easier for both Hoomans and Chooks.
Trying out one of the
suggestions.
Knoturavggrl
Beautiful
Swedish Flower Hen chooks – they are lovely.
Sylvester017
Always enjoy seeing Sylvester’s
lovely chooks, and practical suggestions for bumble foot to boot!
Link to the
2026 BYC Calendar.
Discussion on the
temperament of various barred/cuckoo breeds.
Suzu is spending time inside while
she is recuperating – she’s a cutie pie!
TOMTE
Where are you Tomte – we miss your lovely chooks!
fuentemoon
Seems everyone is dealing with
moulting chooks, not to worry in a few weeks they will once again have their lovely feathers grown in.
New
feathers are starting to grow back in fast.
ChicoryBlue
Shehnai is growing into a beautiful Rooster, but at the moment he is
young cockerel full of beans!
More
moulting ladies, they are still beautiful though.
A link to a good
website on Roosters and cockerels.
Grandma The Chicken
I agree with GtC I really miss Summer also, that's a
great photo of Mozzarella or is that Parmesan? Happy Birthday to your Mum. (I see reading on it is Parmesan)
And a rare
Thirsty Thursday photo.
Ponypoor
Poor Leah has
passed away, I could not resolve her crop issue, there was likely more going on than the crop.
Sneaky hens will
lay their eggs everywhere they can and hide them.
drstratton
As I said – hens they are
sneaky and lay eggs everywhere.
And they are
escape artists!

Have a splendid weekend/week everyone!
