One of the ‘caine’ painkillers isn’t safe in chickens but I don’t remember which one.
The meds ending in -caine or -cane are one of those pro/con issues re: administering to chickens... some reports say toxic to chickens, don't use... other reports say use in moderation if at all... others say use it, that it's safe. I'm glad I have a vet handy who gives us the proper meds so we don't have to 2nd guess what to use:idunno

Posted: I’m home from the hospital! Yay :wee a few infusions of antibiotics, breathing treatments, new effective meds, smart doctors, and pretty nursing staff. 😁

Test results, no cancer in upper tracts, or lower tracts. Not even a single growth that needs removing. I praise God for such a wonderful healing.
Poor Dakota missed me terribly, but she let me hug her when I got home.
:thumbsup

@featherhead007, I'm so glad you're home. :clap

I was looking through some of my chicken pictures, and as always, paused when I saw this one of my beautiful Sunny when she was just a few months old:

I swear she said to me, "Mom, you tell Alex to get better and go home. His chickens need him."

What a lovely photo. 🥰

Yes! She definitely has a way of holding herself upright that is rather elegant even though she is really rather an absurd looking little creature!
Blurry picture - but just look at that foot!

You would think she was a child of the 70s - flare legs pants!

They are back in style, you know! Who knew she was such a fashionista?!? 🥰 🥰 🥰

Well, obviously you did, you are fascinated with her - rightly so!:love

FBA Synopsis:
For the week of: 11/08/2025 - 11/15/2025

*Previous weeks can be found here: synopsis

- It was a tough week here on the FBA thread, you will find links to the deeper stories on each persons section. There was an outpouring of help and support for each of our members that I couldn’t quite capture in a synopses but suffice it to say we really do have an incredible little community here.

Sending healing thoughts to: BY Bob’s sweet Joy - she is unable to walk currently, Ponypoor’s Jaffarra and Betty have had some serious crop issues. Sylvester’s Suzu continues recovery indoors for now, Featherhead is recouping at home after a few days in the hospital due to some health issues, he says he is feeling much better.

—RC posted a wonderful set of links for crop surgery that are bookmark worthy as resource.

Condolences: Simple Jenn’s Black Jack and Screamer, Sylvester’s much loved Dana

@>~~~@>~~~@>~~~~@>~~~~

BY Bob: Joy has been quite ill. Neither the vet nor BY Bob are quite sure what the problem is exactly but she is unable use her right leg. His granddaughter Eve is helping nurse Joy back to health.

Ponypoor: Chickens are getting wormed and maybe Ponypoor as well. Jaffara and Betty are having crop issues that are quite worrying. Jaffarra had to have crop surgery, Ponypoor has nerves of steel and shared the process with us all, as she did the surgery herself. An update on the girls with crop issues.

Royal Chick: Mr. Pumpkinhead day 1, they are off to a great start! Molting chickens with video Mr. Pumpkinhead had a rough day today. Legbars oh so beautiful! Mr. Pumpkinhead has lost his face, a true fright. Messy beaks but happy chickens. Mr. Chips is getting to be all grown-up, how big will he get?

SimpleJenn: A new coop is on the way for the fancy chickens! The chickens out seeing the first snow this year. Black Jacks no longer with us and the story of how this came to be. Screamer the Guinea was lost to a neighbors dog, fly high.

TX Chick Noob: She stopped in to give us an update on her and her chickens.

Sylvester017: Suzu is continuing to do well recovering inside. Some lovely photos of her Dominique’s. Dana passed away and she will be sorely missed.

Featherhead: After a short stay in the hospital, he has returned home with some new meds. He has given some hugs to his birds and is resting up to continue healing.

Kattabelly: shares some info about his young Shetlands. They do sound pretty nifty.
