Oh, I've seen geese on migration before...just not quite this high. These were so high that the Vs looked like a strand of long hair blowing in the wind. I had to search the skies for several minutes to find them. They were easily mistook for ripples on the clouds.Altitude means actually migrating, not going from lake to lake or field to field but trying to log some miles. They like a good tailwind, so we had Canadian Geese migrating South late last week when we finally got a good North wind. Good numbers, in two long lines like threads in the sky.
A few days ago we had about 15-20 flying low by here late afternoon, so there I would speculate they were just going from a daytime feeding field to their roosting location for the night.
