@Pastel the Rooster
Resistance to sulfadimethoxine develops readily. Because resistance can develop easily it is usually given with a second antibiotic in humans to cut off any potentially resistant bacteria.
If you already gave this today, I recommend that you complete the 5 day course and not switch them to Corid after 1 dose.
However, I understand that what is actually practical also has to play into what you do. I will not judge you harshly if you need to switch then to corid in the water.
Something else to consider.....
While a bloody stool like you showed us is a classic symptom of coccidiosis, knowing that they have been on medicated feed gives me pause. It's not impossible for them to develop coccidiosis while on medicated feed, but I would be surprised.
If it is not coccidiosis, and is bacterial in origin, then the sulfadimethoxine is a better treatment as it will kill bacteria. Corid does not treat bacteria.
I swear I'm not trying to confuse things but I am trying to share what I am inferring from the information provided.
I suspect stress is the cause. She has been stressed with Shenai (sorry, I am sure I am spelling that wrong). It takes a little bit after the stress response for 'things' to build up to a symptomatic level once the immune system is weakened by stress.No swelling this time, and I’m not sure of the cause for the flare-up, it’s not real dusty in their run or coop.
Yes, I think so too. Every day there's a couple of sporadic squawks from the Buckeye gang side as Shehnai jumps somebody. That always makes Hazel stop and stand still. That's gotten less intense as they've gotten used to it more, though Lizbel still screams pretty loudly. I don't know if she'll ever get used to it. Hopefully the pullets will mature and be more willing.I suspect stress is the cause. She has been stressed with Shenai (sorry, I am sure I am spelling that wrong). I am assuming that @BY Bob and/or @RoyalChick can confirm or refute my suspicions??????
There are some reddening faces in the ladies... he may be trying to show them nesting areas even though they aren't quite there yet. This is a good sign. His instincts are on the right track.I was cleaning the coops while the gang was trying to go to bed last night, sorry guys! I changed out the poop trays to the winter ones without screens, it got quite cold last night. I also put on their coop warmer, thinking the sudden change in cold was not great for them, it had been in the low 20's F (-6.6C) and went drastically and quickly to -2F (-19C) in a few hours. The size of the Pro coop made it just maintain slightly above that, no more than ten degrees, for them.
Anyway it was interesting to see Shehnai again checking out the nestboxes with the ladies watching him! He went into the middle one and started scratching around in there, then turned and sat down in it, facing out. The ladies watched this pretty closely. You can barely see him here...View attachment 4261478
So I tried to adjust my camera settings to put on a flash. He started coming out as I got it on, plus the ladies started pecking my phone...

But he decided to remain on mission, turned and went back in. Everybody followed his lead, except now I think they figured this is where he's decided they should sleep, so they all sat down near him too.

After that I saw by camera he went to his usual spot in front of the pop door to wait for closing, and everybody arranged themselves as they have been lately, in a row more or less. Last night with the extreme cold they formed themselves into a close bunch at the nestbox end.

Yes, thats Lizbel’s face, though that side goes red and pale both, her circulation there is not normal (she’s the one with bulging eyes). I think one other is getting red too. Technically, hatch day was in early June, they would be laying now if there were more light.There are some reddening faces in the ladies... he may be trying to show them nesting areas even though they aren't quite there yet.
